As mentioned above it does NOT prevent people or animals from coming 'into' your yard. Many counties do not approve this as a required form of fencing for pets either. Be sure to check your statutes in your county.

A friend of mine had an invisible fence and had a kid come 'into' their yard and the parents claimed the dog scratched her kid drew blood and they had their dog taken by animal control.

Not the fence to use in todays world of lawsuit happy people.
And it doesn't protect your pet from loose dogs that can harm yours.

IMHO they should make the 'kids' where shock collars so they don't come into yards with pets.

We have a 4 year old Golden Retriever. We put the system in this summer. Followed training schedule on the included DVD. Works like a charm! Consistent training was the key After a month we removed the flags and it's been great. We enclosed 4 acres to give him plenty of room to run while we are outside. I did not bury it in our woods, just pinned it down every few feet. After the leaves fall it will be completely buried. Our install shows you can hang it on a fence exposed. Bought the entire system & lightning protector for about $150.00.

Thank you everybody for your input,as i stated earlier this is just to allow the dogs some freedom during the day when we are at the campsite,I do agree this will not stop people/critters from coming into the area-people are not a problem as my property is surrounded by approx 400 acres of woods but you just never know.Thank you!!

We have the petsafe electronic fence which is wireless and love it. We have been using it on our Seppalla Siberian Husky for the last 18 months, After training he knows when the collar beeps he is at his boundry and goes no further. He has a very high hunting instinct and catches anything that comes within the area but he won't run through it, even if the deer (which he would love to hunt and ran through a barbed wire fence before we got this sytem and had to have 23 stitches in his legs)are where he can see them. After seeing ours both our daughter and son have bought the system for there dogs and have also worked for them. You can go to petsafe wireless fence and read up on it or pm if you have more questions. We also take this when we are traveling as the perimeter area is adjustable

We have 2 australian shephards and the wireless pet fence. They were used to running free until neighbors on both sides got small dogs and we had to do something with ours. They are very territorial and do not like other dogs. We trained them one weekend and they have not tried to chase anything outside the area, we have deer, squirrels, foxes, you name it. We have a 3 acre yard and bought 2 of the systems so they would have more area to run. Our yard is very hilly. I think even though they are very expensive, it has been worth it.

My son and daughter-in-law use the wireless system to keep their Aussie and Catahoula in their yard. The only time the dogs stray is when the collar batteries are dead.

We had a great swiss mountain Dog and when we talked to the owners of her brother they said they had the invisible fence. but when the neighbor kids came out he love them so much he would brace himself and run thru the invisible fence not caring about the shock.

We have the wired invisible fence that we use with our Lab. It works great with her, she never leaves the yard when wearing her collar. My husband's boss has it too, but his dog will take the shock to get where he wants to go.

I've been wondering if the difference is that our dog never found out the shock will quit if she gets far enough out of the yard. Jim spent a lot of time training her and the first time off the leash, loose in the yard, she tried to leave, got a shock and came right back in the yard. She learned really quick and hasn't tried it again. So maybe she doesn't know she would be fine if she just kept going?

Let me ask a question if I may. I understand with the wired invisible fence, the shock will stop if the dog continues far enough past the wire. With the wireless, does the shock stop or is it continuous until the dog returns to within a close proximity to the controller? Just curious, thanks.

I have the wired invisible fence and have enclosed about 1-1/2 acres around my house. Worked great with my Great Dane who was a very sociable animal and liked to visit my neighbors. But, my young husky liked to run and the fenceline was not a deterrent . (Sound familiar to husky owners?) I actually found a collar online that worked for stubborn dogs, ordered it, and it works great. I laughed when I opened the box and there was a husky on the cover.

I have it most of it buried due to rabbits liking to chew through the wires. They seem to be attracted to the bright red cover.

I was also curious about the wireless for camping.
