I'm just guessing here, but I think RT saw sales on their 210 model soar once they had incorporated the private bath. They probably feel that they can increase sales of the 190 if they can successfully incorporate a private bath.

I believe it will be far more difficult for RT to incorporate a successful private bath that will sell in a 190 than it was in the 210's and Sprinters. The main obstruction for RT being the retained structural roof bracing on each side of the Chevy Express van. This bracing is what causes the narrowing of the side walls on the interior of a 190 a foot or two from the roof (and what some of us hit our head on entering and exiting the side door). With this narrowing of the wall the standing area in a private bath will be very limited. It may well be the reason that RT only built a single prototype 190 with a private bath a few years ago. Take a close look at the photos of this 190 prototype with its private bath posted in this thread and notice the very limited headroom in the bath in photo DSCN5266.

Wonder how Leisure Travel Van was able to incorporate a private bath in their Chevy Free Flight like in the RT 210's and Sprinters?

As anyone checked out the Free Flight at a dealer, if so is the private bath limited?

Maybe RoadTrek could built a Semi-Private bath similar to the Pleasue-Way Lexor, as quoted in the Pleasure-Way Brochure.

"The Lexor offers a spacious bathroom with a Thetford flush toilet, a vanity with a second stainless steel sink and storage, a medicine cabinet with mirror, a 110-volt receptacle and a stand up aisle shower or a private dressing area. For a leisurely shower, simply open the two privacy doors, set the removable shower pan in place, pull the shower curtain around you and enjoy the comfort and convenience of your stand up aisle shower. The removable shower pan results in a quick and easy clean up instead of moping up a permanent in-floor shower pan that you walk on all day. For additional storage, the Lexor offers an optional shelving unit that replaces the vanity."

I checked the Leisure Travel Van web site and they have 16 photos of the Free Flight on a Chevy Express chassis. Only one of those photos shows a view of the bath and the available headroom inside the bath appears to be very limited as it was in the Roadtrek 190 prototype photo DSCN5266. I don't know anything about the bath arrangement in the Pleasure Way Lexor.

Don,

Regarding the bath arrangement in the Pleasure-Way Lexor vans check out: www.vancityrv.com check out the Pleasure-Way Lexor vans showing the bathroom.

The door opening, both doors on the Pleasure-Way Lexor is the same as my 2002 Dodge-2002-RT-190 POP which I have the extra Armoire in place of the third seat. There is no need of hanging a piece of material from a cabinet door for semi-privacy in the bath area.

Of course my bath area does not have the vanity with a second stainless steel sink and storage, nor a medicine cabinet with a mirror. I do have a nice private roomy area when both doors are open.

Craig Smith RV brought an LTV Free Flight to the RV show we had at the B5 Rally in Logan OH. I think it was there on Friday, but not on Saturday.

I don't recall the bathroom in particular. I just remember that the entire vehicle had an overwhelming claustrophobic feeling to it...and I think it was upholstered in dark colors, making it seem even more "closed in" than it probably was.

I choose to believe that one of the manufacturers is going to get a comfortable enclosed bath into a Chevy while maintaining the livability of the rest of the interior.

Lynne,

I had been in contact with Jim Creel General Manager Craig Smith RV, www.craigsmithrv.com back in July at the time he wanted $71,438.00 for the Free Flight, I could have purchased from Burton Campers, Calera, AL with more accessories for $68,045.00 and I feel price at Burton Campers is high.
The color on the leather is Garnet, really did not like the color.
Here is the info on the Free Flight you saw:

Just a thought on why it might be taking so long to get a Chevy with enclosed bath to market from either Roadtrek or Pleasure-Way...the manufacturer needs to be pretty darned convinced of the vehicle's "sale-ability" because they have to subject any new design to a crash test, which means that they have to completely trash one of their units (which probably costs them at least $50K, plus the cost of the test, which I think is pretty expensive). They have to be sure that all design tweaks (structural) are made before the test, otherwise they'd have to go through another test and another lost van conversion.

I agree.

Enclosed bath in a Chevy 'B'...Yes!

Comfortable?...I think not!

Maintaining the livability of the rest of the interior...Yes!...Although!
IMHO...will detract from the size of the enclosed bath...
