We have been on the road for a couple of years now and just saw this in a couple of Canadian campgrounds in the last few days. Campers in 5ers and some MH had their parking lights on at night and leaving them on for hours. There were 5 or 6 of them at Camping Alouette near Montreal and another 3 or 4 at Camping Bernieres near Quebec City. Is this a Canadian thing?

When I first started reading this, I thought it may have been us as we have camped in Ontario Canada a few times in the past few weeks. LOL
We also light up the running lamps on our rig.
Many people stop and ask how I did it, and if I would show them how so they too could do it.
Where we like to camp, it is a party like atmosphere, so it goes with our other colored lights we hang on the awning, the solar lights, etc. They all go off at bedtime. Never once have we heard a complaint, only compliments.
This is something we do in the states too.
You will find this topic has been brought up many times. There are many who like it, and many who hate it. Just like everything else I suppose.

I really have no idea.
I don't know if it is a Canadian thing or not, but in my MH, all it means is that one of the little kids got up there and turned them on and no one has noticed. Our 18 month old and 2.5 year old foster sons, for some reason want to climb into the front seat whenever I am not there. I always have to check everything before starting to see what all they have turned on. They even will put on sunglasses and act like they are driving. I am lucky that they haven't yet figured out how to blow the horn.
My MH doesn't buzz like the car does when you leave the lights on.

We light ours up. It is very easy to do. You can install a switch from the battery to running light connection. Or you can jump it out on the plug that connects to the TV. You can alos install a flasher do the lights flash.
2003 Jayco 308fbs eagle 33' tt, towed by a 2003 Ram 3500 slt, quad cab dually, cummins diesel ho, trailer towing package, with 6 speed manual. Hauls better 1/2, 3 kids, myself, and a 2003 ez go clays car.. I have added so far, neon lights, clearance lights, back up lights, black light, lift kit, mud tires, and everything necessary to make the golf cart street legal. It's now ready to spend the winter in the garage for more mods. More neon, strobe lights, alarm, a pa system, maintance, and whatever else that comes along. This golf cart does wheelies and travels thru 7 inches of mud when need be. Two honda eu2000i gens twinned to supply the electrical power. Latest addition an 04 Honda Goldwing. Here is a link to a couple of ways to do it if you want to.
You use the flasher if you want them to flash and just the wire if you want continuous light.
Plan for tomorrow. Live for today. Learn from yesterday.

seems sort of silly to me. one step above putting out the pink flamingos, however. by all means make them flash, it will be 100 times as annoying to your neighbors.

These people may be rvers, but they sure aren't campers.
Campers will want conditions for greater appreciation of the stars, the woods, the moon.............. How can you enjoy the night if you insist on putting up artificiality?
But campfire light, ah, that's something different.
& I, I took the road less travelled by.

First off, everybody has different likes & dislikes... thats what makes the world go round.
Secondly, we run our lights when & where appropriate. Depending on where we are, we may or may not run them.
PS - when it comes down to it, real campers don't use RV's
