I see what you are saying about the length. I had questioned that myself. Thanx amxpress you explained why the RV dealer said I could tow 6700lbs but the Toyota dealer said 5000lbs. I have seen 5000lbs myself. I have looked at the FunFinders as well. It seems like they are light and shorter but with nice floorplans?

The reason for the 5000lb towing capacity is the hitch. It is a weight carrying hitch only. You are not supposed to use any weight distribution with it. In '03 the V6 and V8 used the same hitch and both had a 5000lb towing capacity. The '04 V8's got a new hitch (and no other changes) that increased the tow capacity to 7000lbs when weight distribution is used. Semi-verified rumor has it that if you put the V8 or aftermarket hitch that allowed weight distribution on the V6 it is good to 6700lbs.

See what your owners manual has to say about this.

4 runner as a TV?

For that size of TT you really need a hitch like a Hensley. Don't leave home without it.
Hensley

LOL – it must be a cold day in August here in Phoenix since I am agreeing with Road Ruler. For a trailer that long, I would definitely go with a Hensley hitch when towing with a 4Runner. The Hensley is a great hitch and really does work. See if you can find one used to save a lot of money. I used to own one when I was pulling a 24’ Sunnybrook with an Expedition. After I got my Ram, I found didn’t need it any more (long story but I also owned an Equal-i-zer) so I sold it to TeryT and he has been using it ever since with his 4Runner.
