We don't camp alone but DH, he's retired, goes out early to the campsite, sets up and relaxes. We have a group that normally camps together and one of the other couples are half-retired and half-working also so they do the same thing. I guess that is what happens when one spouse is "older" than the younger wife who is still working. He does have help breaking camp which to me is worse. I just leave work and go straight to the campground. I don't have a problem with it. One of our favorite campgrounds is closer than home anyway.

Hey - enjoy the "long" drive to Cherry Creek. After all it isn't always the destination but the trip!! LOL
John
PS - we 'live' (when not on the road) 1 mile from Cherry Creek!

I'll take a couple of weekend trips a year, just me and the dogs. Do a little fishing, play some golf, hang out with a beer or two. It's nice and peaceful. DW gets to do some quilting without me and the dogs getting in her way. We both like it.

I've camped alone several times--mostly to go fishing (which my girls aren't that fond of). Due to my daughter's school schedule, I've traveled to a destination a couple of days ahead of them and had them fly in to meet me.

In March of this year, I towed the TT by myself to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the NASCAR race. I left on a Tuesday, got to the track on Wednesday and they flew in on Thursday night. I found plenty to do in Las Vegas while I was waiting for them to fly in.

In 2009, Las Vegas Motor Speedway is opening up their lot on the Monday before the race. I've broached the subject of me leaving on the Sunday before the race and wait until Thursday PM for them to show up.

I'm not sure that idea is going to fly. My wife thinks I will have too much fun.

I get more vacation than my wife and every year, the week before Memorial Day, the dogs and I head down to Pueblo State Park for the whole week. DW drives down on the Friday. It's wonderful having alone time. The first year I didn't take the dogs and was so lonely I'll never make that mistake again!

The family and I are headed out for a quick trip to Cherry Creek State Park this weekend, and as luck has it, I got to take some vacation time this week (Before the DNC arrives and we get REALLY busy at work!).
I decided to reserve an extra day and head out early, just me and my faithfull lab, Hershey. Although the DW said she had no issues about me starting early, I think she does.
I have to admit, I am looking forward to some quiet time just doing... nothing!
It may just be us, but it seems like our vacations are packed with activities. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy seeing and doing new things. But, there are times I crave relaxing with no running around.
Am I being selfish? I hope not!

If you have the time and money to do it, no. Sometimes, doing nothing with no activities scheduled, strikes me as intelligent behavior. Too much activity of any kind (other than making more money) just doesn't appeal to me. And making more money these days for me doesn't involve just a lot of it. Well, almost. Vacation time is what you make it, period. he he

I have a sweet tender nature, however I enjoy sharing my thoughts and opinions.
