I love my awnings. I got that as an option and love not having to deal with branches and leaves. I feel it also helps keep rain out of slides

This is good advice. I know event though I put large jack pads down, I can still get some settling at the leveling jacks. That would definitely torque the slides if they had jacks under them.
A slide topper has nothing to do with holding the slide up. It is basically an awning over the slide. I don't think they are needed.
That part of my response was about the jacks for the slides, not the toppers. Of course I forgot to add the word jacks, but I went back and fixed it.

I added them on mine. I purchased them oversized. By this I made sure that fabric had at least 3 inches of overhang on each side. They have workd well this summer for me and nothing get on the slide roof. Only issue I have is that water does collect on to of the cover and need to bring it in about half way and wait till the water drains off.

Our slide toppers have been the best thing we've put on the TT! Everything rolls off when you bring in the slide! I've read that a lot of people advise again the slide jacks. Good luck!

And they are very eary to replace when worn. Takes all of 15 minutes to remove and snap into place once you know how. Some tend to delaminate over time. Our unit is 6 years old. Replaced one early summer and ordered another one this week from local RV dealer. The one on the third and largest slide still looks good.

My last RV did not have slide topper and I had to get on the roof every time to clean it before bringing in the slide. One time it was raining and that made me very uncomfortable being on a wet roof of a RV cleaning off wet leaves. My new MH has slide topper.

Questions for those of you that put aftermarket slide toppers on:
1. How do they hold up to wind? We camp on Lake Ontario and sometimes the wind coming in from the lake is like a mini hurricane.
2. What brand did you get? I saw the reviews for the ones at Camping World and they weren't great.

Based on the EXTREME leakage on a 5er near us in an RV park, I'd say definitely!!! New trailer and the sofa and carpeting were ruined by the leakage. Happened in one rainstorm in AZ in the winter.

SO far no issues. What reviews. Last I looked 2 weeks ago, there was a total of 2. Not exactly a huge sampling. We have more people than that herte saying they were good.
