Just got back from a 2 week camping trip in our new TT, however, our site was right underneath a big pine tree...so when we were done, we had tons of pine needels as well as pine cones and small twigs on our slide out. My question is does the slide topper make a difference for this or do you still have to get on the roof to clean off the topper before brining in the slide? Also, does placing slide jacks help make the trailer more stable?

I don't know about the slide topper, but when we picked up our trailer the gentleman that did the PDI said not to use the slide jacks. He said that as the trailer settles (he used a week long vacation as an example) the jacks will push the slides upwards which isn't good.

The Slide Toppers are well worth it...wish I had them on ours !

As the slide retracts, the topper rolls up and the debris slides off.

You shouldn't put any type of jack under your slide. It could knock the slide out of align.

2.5 years and never cleaned a slide topper. If you add them, my only advice will be to make sure there is a slope from rig to outer edge of slide to promote water drainage. Mine were installed so that the cloth is level when extended and they tend to pool water.

I asked the dealer about slide toppers and he recommended we not buy it. I always carry a small ladder and I clean the slide off with a cloth before we close it. Also gives me a reason to inspect the top of the slide. MY$.02.

This is good advice. I know event though I put large jack pads down, I can still get some settling at the leveling jacks. That would definitely torque the slides if they had jacks under them.

A slide topper has nothing to do with holding the slide up. It is basically an awning over the slide. I don't think they are needed.

I would not be without the slide topper because of what you experienced, you would have to get up there and sweep off the pine needles, leaves ect off before closing. The topper prevents all this as the slide comes in the topper automatically rolls up and dumps all the garbarge off. As for the slide jacks stay away from them, they will ruin your slides. Too many times when we are out camping I see people get on top of their trailer and sweep leaves ect off the slide before they close the slides and I say to myself "sure glad we got the toppers".

We wouldn't be without a slide topper on our slide.

My slide toppers are awesome. I never need to go up on the roof to sweep off the debris that could accumulate on the top of my two slides. I also do not have a ladder on the back of my camper and the last thing I want to do is bring one with me. I believe that they are well worth the money. Good luck on your decision.
