ok this may be my last question before i go pick my TT up, i know every rig is different and the dealer is going to help me with this but so that i dont look like a newbie for to long what should i initially set my brake controller at before adjusting?

i have my power set to 45% and sensitivity at 3 (it goes from 1-5), i figured this was a safe medium. i'm going to be pulling a 30' that weighs about 5500 lbs with a 1/2 ton pick up.

hopefully my next post will be pictures of my new monterey 27pt.

It depends on your controller. You do not state what unit you have. I would suggest following the instructions that came with the controller. They all set up differently.

I do not know how your brake controller work but this is how I set mine to what I like.

I would drive it a few feet and apply the brakes. I prefer to feel a little tug when I brake to know the tt brakes are working properly. At that point back the adjsutments until you can't feel the tug. Then set it one step above the NO tug feeling. My tt and boat trailers are set at different settings.

As soon as you start rolling, apply your tow vehicle's brakes. If it feels like it doesn't want to stop, adjust the gain until it feels comfortable. Also remember you will need more gain at highway speed than you will need at slow speed. You'll get a feel for it - just don't turn it all the way up or you may skid the tires and that could create flat spots.

Best bet is to follow the direction included with the BC. It's too important to listen to SWAG's.

I agree; get the book out. Also, before you do ANY adjustments, make sure you warm the brakes up. - Dave

it's an agility controller, didn't really say much other than drive down a road with no traffic at 20mph and apply the brakes and make sure it doesnt skid.

i appreciate the fact that all rigs are different just trying to have a good starting point since i'm driving it off the lot and the freeway is lyterally less than 100 ft from were i pull out so theres traffic and i dont want to be the dingus locking up brakes as soon as i get out of the dealership parking lot.
