I tried to edit my preferences but am getting a message stating that I must update my profile first. Looking at it I see that the forum is now requiring a mailing address entered in my profile.

I get enough junk mail and don't want any more. While I can understand Affinity Group wanting to increase their mailing list, I find it offensive to do it this way.

Is this change going to stay?

Just update your profile from one of the other 7 portals. I've only run into the problem when using the Good Sams portal.

Bearnkat,

beemerphile1 is correct. If one clicks on the My Prefereces link, one is redirected to the My Profile page, which contains the following message.

Please update your profile prior to updating your preferences as some of our system requirements have changed.

I found out about this change shortly ago from PMs that I received from members. Yesterday, I found about the change on the profile page to require mailing addresses. I have started a discussion about the change in the Moderators Forum. I will add the My Preference redirect to the discussion.

Needless to say, I would have rather heard about this from administration rather than from members.

beemerphile1,

I can't say if the change will stay. I have posted my objections.

I live at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. and they can mail as much as they want to my mailing address.

They won't get one real address anyway,so what's the point of it all.

Pulsar,

Thank you very much for letting me know, I appreciate it. Like I mentioned, I logged on through Good Sams one day when I couldn't access the RV.net portal and that's when it asked me for my address. I thought the problem was only with Good Sams but I'm mistaken. Very interesting. I guess it happened with the last software update.

Take care,

C & T

Thanks for the response Tom. This won't sit well with forum members.

Like other posters indicated, they will get lots of phony addresses.

This change happened yesterday, not with the last software update.
