I don't want this thread to become another war about which generator is best. We already own an RV ready Champion which we love and use when we are out in the boonies, but when we are dry camping in our National forest campgrounds and closer to others, we are looking into a single 2000 Honda. Now, the question is who has the best prices? Any suggestions? I've already looked up several websites, but they are all over $1000.00. Any better pricing out there or is this what were faced with?

I purchased a Honda EU2000i last winter from Wise Sales. The cost was in the neighborhood of $850 and free shipping and no tax. I had it shipped to me in Florida where we were staying for the winter. It arrived in around 5 days, well packed, no damage.

If your heart is set on a Honda, I don't want to dissuade you, however you might want to consider one of these if on a budget:

I bought my Honda 2000 via mail order from Alamia which is out of Colorado. They beat Wise by about $15 at the time I ordered (3-4 months ago) and cost me about $860. I called both plus a couple others and went with the best price. I received it 2 days after I ordered.

I knew that I've seen links for Honda Generators posted here before and did a quick search:

Honda Generator Sites

I also have seen many advertisements for Hondas with low prices in the classifieds section of Trailer Life magazine.

I also have a Champion RV Generator and I like it for use at NASCAR races and BBQ competitions where noise levels are not a concern. I would buy either a Honda or Yamaha generator in a heartbeat if I started dry camping in the forest where it is meant to be serene and quiet.

we paid $849 for a eu2000i at camping world on sale in NY last spring, it was stolen right in front of us in a National Park this summer, wasn't much an old man with one leg could do, they won't allow you to have a gun in the Parks so the group of young men simply walked through and took what they wanted, filed a report but all we got from that was more horror stories from the Ranger and Police, anyway that is not your question, I found a new one for sale in Mass. this past week for $500 but was too late calling.

they are well worth the money even at $800+, I would like to run two as I can't lift a 3000W model but can manage to cart a 2000i around and sometimes I get help offered to me which is even better, LOL>

IMO - off topic thoughts for anyone considering purchasing an "off brand",
"budget" generator on Ebay, or?

It's Forrest Gump's box of chocolates!
IMO - This doesn't guarantee anything, but worth checking.
Before buying, take a look at the mfgr's directions/information, copy down the tech phone number and CALL it! Ask where you can take the gen for repair. Call or visit the repair facility. Ask if they are a warranty repair shop for the brand of gen. (If you can't do that - forget it)

You or I can become a Chinese generator "mfgr" / dealer - with whatever name you or I choose! Advertise on Ebay, take the orders, order a cargo container full from China - sell 'em, pocket the profits - and Adios!

Here's where you start -
YOUR Gen Business!

Back on (Honda) track - Wise sales, also try the internet for established (brick & mortar address) dealers. A few others are advertised in TL.
Sometimes a bit higher price with free shipping offsets a low price when you pay
shipping. Sales tax?

BTW - I don't feel the need to lock lawn chairs - but gens get "very special" treatment! However, if someone wants something bad enough it can be stolen.

Funny thing is we went through this four years ago....

I am a bargin shopper.

Knew what we wanted....the Honda 2000.

As I was checking prices....I just happened to call a local (in my home town) Lawn Mower shop. I did this because they sold Honda Lawn Mowers....so thinking they might know of a Honda generator dealer close by.

Turned out they sold Honda generators....and their price was cheaper then all other places I called, they were even a few dollars cheaper then I found on the internet. (even with free shipping)...the beauty of it all. As soon as I got off the phone my husband went right down and bought the generator....No shipping handling charges and no waiting.

We also take our generator to this shop for tune ups.

Check your local Lawn Mower shops

2halfs, that is how I got my honda as well. It was a "demo" but I got it for 700.00 us dollars. I was looking high and low online and then just stopped in to look, bought it on the spot.
