1990 FORD F-250 SUPER CAB LONG BED, 191000kms, 2dr, Automatic, 2WD, V8 7.3 Liter Diesel, Cylinders 8, Diesel, AM/FM Stereo, Air Conditioning, Intermittent Wipers, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Windows, Tilt Steering, Tinted Glass, Tow Package, Bucket Seats, Canopy, Long Box, Power Locks, Tilt Wheel, Extended Cab, Two-toned Paint, This is a great Truck!!! Well looked after Lariat with all the right equipment and the bulletproof fuel efficient 7.3l Diesel. Call us today for all the details., Stock# A09068, $8,450.00

My concern is our air care test shows it going up to 9% then 14% on the opacity test.
What causes this and does that make it a bad deal?

AirCare inspection results for VIN 1FTHX25M2LKA09068 are shown below. According to the inspection records, this vehicle is a 1990 model year vehicle with a curb weight of 2201 kilograms and an engine displacement of 7.3 litres. Based on the results obtained, this vehicle is not currently eligible for re-licensing.

Properly maintained this was a good model. Problem is that 1990 diesel had no provision for environmental considerations. Most US localities will accept if it meets standards in place at time of manufacture.

"IF" I am reading your last line correctly, ie "not eligible for re-licensing" 'assuming" that means what I think it to mean, why are you looking at a rig you can not buy a license for?

Otherwise, the 7.3L diesel in it, has about 175HP and 330 lb ft of torque, NO turbo! At least in stock mode! If it "has" a turbo, it is aftermarket, and would have about 200-225 hp and 400-500 lb ft of torque, depending upon the tune etc. It is NOT a power monster in stock form. A 460 gas from that era is more powerfull. It will deliver about 20 mpgs tho empty. It would not be my first choice for a diesel motor, the 94+ Ford 7.3's would be.

Can't be licensed! Almost 19 years old and $8450! WHY would you even think about it?

Could he be talking about changing the weight rating? I know in a lot of states you can license for a specific weight.

To the OP: Yes, this is a good engine but as others have said it does not have a lot of power. If it has an aftermarket turbo be careful as the engine was not designed to handle the additional stresses put on it by a turbo.

Thanks for the feedback, I could not post the whole report, so something got missed.

The license thing is that the aircare has expired, and needs to be tested and passed before it can be put on the road.
Not a biggy as it passed everytime and should pass fine now, but sounds like it would be no better than my current 1977 400CI truck.

It won't be the powerful diesel puller you are thinking of, especially if it has a 3.55 axle ratio. With 4.10's, it won't be too bad, but a 460 with 4.10's will still be better for towing.

$8500 is alot of money for that truck.

I have the truck below, tows awesome, the 7.3 IDI (pre-powerstroke) non-turbo version is a good motor, tows well, and runs well. Just accept that you shouldn't be in any hurry to accelerate to highway speeds! I believe mid 92ish or thereabouts the turbo model was inttroduced, upped the ante quite a bit. As other posters said, that price is a little steep for that truck. You can find Pstrokes for around the same price, computer controlled, turbo'ed better choice for towing. Better value for the money. I bump into mid 90 Powerstrokes for $10K plus or minus every now and then, if you're willing to travel a bit to take advantage of the price. Like it was said above, offer less if you really like the truck, if not, pass and keep looking.
