1994 model yr was the "FIRST" T444E or 7.3 PSD. Their are some 93's that Ford was calling a PSD, BUT< they were the IDI with an aftermarket ATS turbo. Their were some overheat issues with that motor IF you had the auto and AC. If not their were not issues. As an owner of an IDI 7.3, while one can turbo it, it is generally speaking, not recommended. If one does turbo it, do not boost it more than about 15-16 lbs or so, as that motor has a 22'ish -1 compression, vs todays diesels, with 18-1, which allows these motors to get boosted into the 20+ lb range with out damage to the motor.

Sounds good, I knew it was in that year range somewhere when the computerized new turbo'ed Pstrokes came into being. Looking at a 7.3 IDI for the Crew Cab, non computer, nice swap.

$5k buys the engine, the body may not be worth it.

"bulletproof" Me thinks not. Read why:

One thing you should be aware of is the fact that these engines required a coolant additive that inhibited corrosion.

I rebuilt a 1990 F-350 4x4 7.3L IDI engine that had only 177,000mi on it. The owner of this truck let it set, and never used the coolant additive despite warnings from ford about doing so.

It had hydro-locked, and it required pulling the engine, and sleeving the block to fix the problem. The "cavitation/erosion" had been so bad that it had rusted pin holes in the rear most cylinder wall on the driver's side allowing coolant to seep in and lock the engine.

Very $$$$$$ to fix.

So, buyer beware.

I had a '91 4x4 version of that truck. It was nice but then it only had 67,000 when I got it. I sold it with 90,000 just becouse I wanted to go back to a Dodge. They are good rigs, but the unless you totally in love with it, I would keep shopping.
