have not been pulled over since I removed my front plate , what do you think the transitos look for.
what are they going to do put you in jail for not having a plate... they are working on the fear factor ,
if you are worried about alittle thing like this you should stay home or take the bus

Moisheh The Sol is at lot W-6 and your parking spot is on our lot I-6, here at Leisuretime RV Park in Cascade.

I took poetic license in that post but actually you can weld those 2 together but not with a MIG. It is called Explosive or explosion welding. Also at some of the State Fairs they sell some sort of special brazing rod that can weld the 2 together!!!

In a similar vein, and with a touch of the ridiculous, once ran into a young Canadian group of travelers a thousand km into Mexico who had apparently taken the taken license plate issue to heart, added a bit of computer expertise and arrived at displaying two plates that had the outward appearance of being bonafide B.C. plates. On a second look, though, they were just very good copies of those plates. I didn't ask how they made them.
Since British Columbia rear plates are the location for the placement of two important insurance decals, and driving there is against the law without current ones on that plate, they had gone the extra mile to protect both.
For two years my tow bar had obsured the front plate and it was kept inside the car. But we were eventually pulled over by the RCMP. The officer was a bit taken aback when we produced it immediately when asked from under a floor mat. He wrote us out a fix-it slip and we again drive with two plates, the front one still invisible from one side of the road.

Not so silly...
We made four trips with front plates (from BC) then two trips with one plate (from Alberta). I found a nice "Chevy" plate at a flea market and used it on the front. Then one day I noticed that my rear plate was gone! I had gotten a parking ticket in Playa del Carmen a week earlier, and sure enough, I retrieved it after paying my modest fine. No problemea, really.
As all Mexican vehicles have two plates I wondered if it ever became an issue. It is reassuring to know that it is no big deal. This forum is always a good source of real-life experience and perspective.

Quote: I took the front plate off only because it is a draw to teenagers looking for wall art. I figured if I lost one plate, I could use the 2nd.
....this is brilliant! I love it
...come on folks, what Mexican cop would know what plate and where is required in what state or province, throughout North America?????
If you've got one plate on....good enough. I, too, have never ever, in over the past 20 years, heard of a foreigner being stopped and hassled about the quantity of plates they have on their vehicle in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, or Panama.

We have been on the road for six years, hitting most or all of the Lesser 48, most of the Canadian provinces, and several months in Mexico, with only an Alaska rear plate on our toad. Heck, they don't even care in Alaska!

A lot of cars and trucks don't even have plates in Mexico. They are supposed to but it is hard to inforce.
