Except for my cats, I have no family left, so I always bake a ham and do the veggies, and dinner rolls, the "kids" get a can of people tuna, and I sit down and watch "Alice's Restaurant", wash dishes and retire early after a blackberry brandy. AHHHHHH!

We started doing that a few years ago. It is wonderful, the kids and grandkids who can, join us for a day or two. No set menu, may be turkey etc, may be burgers.

When we were kids, our family Tent Camped over Thanksgiving. Mom cooked all the food and brought it in "tin foil."
It is one of the BEST memories of my childhood camping.
So...this Thanksgiving, my Mom, sister and I are camping 4 nights for the Thanksgiving weekend. I'm already excited about it! Have all my dutch ovens and cast iron skillets.
Holidays are "where the family is" -- be it home or otherwise. Enjoy your Thanksgiving! I'm sure the weather will be fine.

Last yr was our 1st campground thanksgiving with a large extended family. All I can say is it was great. Honey Baked Ham, the guys fried turkeys, everyone brought something,Paper plates,etc. Kids had the playgroung next to us, teens brought guitars, card games going. started about 11 AM went to 5PM. No stress just a great day with wonderful friends and because everyone pitched in no one was tired except from over eating. Go for it

Ahhh Thanksgiving for us in the north means snow and ice and cold...... but we still go!
We park our rig at the end of the road into hunting camp.... and drive in on ATV's to the family hunting shack (WE prefer to sleep in our own motorhome though each night)
and the guys are in charge of the turkey!

We often camp at Thanksgiving. Here in Michigan we sometimes have snow and sometimes have nice weather. I always have to take a rake to rake up the leaves at the camp site and a shovel in case we have a lot of snow.
We would like to do Christmas again.

This going to be our first year to do it, (Canada's is earlier, a bit warmer)have the parents come out also. We just traded our 88 corsair C-Class for a 2001 Winnebago Brave 32'. Going have a bit of extra room inside incase of bad weather. Personally looking forward to it. Plan on doing winter camping this year also.
Need to have those new traditions, keeps thing fresh

This sounds like a great idea!!! I would love to try doing something like this for a change, if I can convince the family!

We did Thanksgiving dinner at a local state park last year for the first time. We had a blast! Family on both sides came, along with friends. We did the turkey and ham and everyone else brought a dish to share. We even had the satellite dish set up - couldn't miss the Packers play football!
