Anybody know whether it's a good idea to install Service Pack 3 ? I am running windows XP home edition. What will/won't this install do for me?

The only issue I have experienced updating laptops with service pack 3 is that in some cases the Wireless stops functioning. I have noticed this most often on Toshiba laptops.

I installed XP SP3 on my iMac, 2 MacMinis and 2 MacBooks and SP3 runs well on all of them through Bootcamp and through Parallels. The upgrades on these machines went without a hitch. Oddly enough, I had a slight issue with the upgrade of a regular old PC, but eventually got it straightened out too. (Then I unplugged it and put it back in the closet! LOL )

We are getting to deploy it at my work - I've been a guinea-pig for SP3 and haven't had any issues.

With each SP they close holes in the security that are not closed by the normal security upgrades.. There may be some other improvements too.
I just did Sp3 on my "Shack" computer (This one I don't worry much about security. AVG said I'd not hooked it to the net for the last 299 days)

Last night, I got a pop-up saying that Updates were ready for installation. I proceeded.
At the end of installing SP3 on my HP desktop, my Email didn't come in or go out and I could not access the I'net using IE or Firefox. Additionally, MS Word and Excell didn't work.
I did a System Restore back to last Friday and EVERYTHING is now OK.
I would sugggest that BEFORE you install it, know how to do a system restore and AFTER the install, check every program that you regularly use.
