I have been very happy with Timbrens. They are an install and forget part that I do not notice when running unloaded. Here are some pics of properly installed Timbrens:

I thought having to adjust the psi for different loads was the advantage NOT the disadvantage! The in-cab air is the best or the compressor in the front of the 5er is a slick idea too if the 5er is the only load to worry about. Craig

I've had both Timbrens and air bags, I preferred the air bags because of the superior ride quality.

That brings to mind another advantage of Timbrens, the price and ease of installation. They are about 1/2 of that price of $360, and anyone who knows which end of a wrench is up can put them on in usually a matter of minutes. No need to hire someone to install them, unless you are just physically unable due to poor health or lack of mobility.

And once they are on the truck, no air pressures to fool with. When you load up the truck, they engage. Unload the truck, and they disengage. Pretty simple.

Air bags I am sure offer many advantages, and in some situations may be a better choice. But some of the air baggers look down on Timbrens without any experience at all with them. You simply cannot completely dismiss Timbrens until you have tried them in your own individual situation. To the folks that have tried them and still prefer airbags, I respect that decision and believe like I said earlier that some in some situations, air bags are a better choice.

I selected Firestone RideRite air bags because my old F250 begged me to do it.

My old leaf springs were beginning to sag from too many years of heavy loads. The air bags have taken all the sway out of my old sway-back and made her look and act like a young filly again, loaded or unloaded.

The air bags can be adjusted so the attitude is exactly right for any situation.

And if you don't have a compressor, any old bicycle pump will do since it takes a very, very small amount of air to adjust the pressure level.

One other thing to keep in mind about the Timbrens. When adding them to a soft suspension vehicle like my Durango, they dampen the suspension travel when going over road bumps when unloaded so the ride will be rougher. You probably would not notice that on a truck. I usually remove mine when not towing. It only takes about 2 minutes total time to switch the rears out.

I got the Firestone kit for 212 and installed it myself in an hour and a half. The install was pretty simple and didnt take a tire off either.I just ran the line to the bumper near the plate and drilled 2 holes for the fittings. I run about 20 lbs in them around town and about 40-50 with the trailer. The bags dampen some of the jarring that I used to get on my dirt road so that is a plus also. In the pics the bags look tilted but they arent no idea why its looks that bad. My truck is lifted so I had to use some 2x4 square tube to make up the difference
