I just got a 07 MC DRW and trying to decide if I go with my B&W companion or superglide? I did not have any trouble with my QQ short box, but now with the longer wheel base I think it might cause me trouble?

The longer wheelbase can be aggravating some times when backing. You can use a 5th wheel slider on your B&W gooseneck hitch if you purchase the Colibert slider attatchment. That may be cheaper than buying a whole new sliding hitch. I would try it with the Companion first though, since you already have it, and see if the slider is needed or not before spending a bunch of money on hitch equipment.

I've only had my rig a short while and have pulled from the dealer to home (about 70 miles) and to a local park and back. Getting to the park and back involved a couple of tight turns especially at the dump site. In order to get this rig into my driveway I have to pretty much jacknife the trailer to get it lined up. With all the other worries that go with owning a new rig...the last thing I needed was to remember to check if I had enough clearance to negotitate a particular turn or not. So far the truck and hitch have performed flawlessley...you'll enjoy pulling with the MC...GL!

i have a sidewinder and a safehitch in the truck. the sidewinder looks precarious but works great for turning, backing, and the weight is over the rear axle. no problem with trailer sway either. trailer sway is usually caused by the driver and excessive speed.

Will a fuel tank, 40 to 60 gallon fit in front of the hitch ?,something to consider when thinking about buying a sb.I want a mc for the extra room in the back seat and have talked to the company about a longbed conversion several times.I like my longbed qc but don't like the room in the backseat and i'm not sure i want to deal with a 20 to 22" longer truck.

I've had my MC DRW for over a year and have traveled all over and have never had any problems with the short bed. I have a Reese slider but have used it one time in Fishing Bridge at Yellowstone. Most new 5th wheels have the corners angled for short bed trucks anyway. I would guess that over 50% of 5th are being towed with short bed trucks. Yours will work fine.

That hitch defeats the main benefit of a fifth wheel (no sway), by moving the hitch pivot point to behind the axle, like a travel trailer. Fifth wheel and gooseneck pivot points belong ahead of the axle while towing.

The slider hitch is better, it retains the normal position of the pivot point while towing, thus retaining the normal handling characteristics of the trailer, while allowing the trailer to clear the cab when manuevering at slow speeds (parking).

Better yet is to tow with a long bed and eliminate all hitch/trailer/clearance issues.

I have had Zero sway with the Sidewinder. Plus the trailer tracks truer (if that's a word) and backs easier.
