On my last trip, I noticed a puddle of hydraulic fluid in the front storage area of my Forest River Wildcat. The fluid came from the hydraulic unit that opens/closes the slide. Pretty sure it came from the joint where the metal and plastic units (container that stores the fluid) bolt together. I tightened the four bolts that connect the two pieces and there doesn't appear to be any more leaking when I move the slide. Any thoughts or suggestions? How much fluid should be in the plastic storage unit?

fluid goes a long way , one drop can make a big spot on paper. clean the area well , soap hot water , I would think as long as the tank is 3/4 full it should be ok. watch for another leak .

We had the same problem a couple of years ago. The seal was failing on the pump. Trailer was still under warranty and the pump was replaced. No problem since. Trailer is a Keystone.

Pumps assemblies are warrented for I believe 5 years. Call lippert and if under warranty they will ship you a new one for free along with a return tag.

I had the same thing here... All I did was drain the fluid, remove the reservoir bottle and checked the o-ring. The o-ring looked fine so I just reassembled it and filled it with fluid. Its been working fine with no leaks since. My guess is that the weight from the long bottle made the o-ring lose its seal. I would try that before going nuts about a new pump. Also you can get a replacement o-ring at any hydraulic shop. Just bring in the old one and match it up. That was my next move if it still leaked. So far so good!!
As far as fluid levels there should be approx 3/4 when the slides are in. When they are out there should only be about 1/3. Just make sure that you check the fluids when the slides are in because if you over fill it then bring in the slide it will over flow.
Good luck

As cardman mentioned that fluid level will change as you move the slide in and out. I took a black marker and made a mark on the reservoir at the full and empty mark. Just a quick glance every now and then.
