We are looking at a used 2004 C236 cub. The price is good. But again it is used, I think it will be 5 years old soon, so then I wonder if we should just go new or used? The floor plan is what we like. We have checked it out and it looks to be in very good condition. I would like to know if anyone has had problems with there cub. We have looked at new roos? We use to camp years ago when the kids were home. Now it would be 2 of us and our dog. Every so often the grandkids.
Thanks

It you like it buy it, and save the money from new. Make sure a good price is a good price! Example my 25ft HTT Cub 2005 bought used in 2007 was half price of new and this unit was only 2 years old! 5yrs old will need tires soon? Goodluck. No/Zero problems w/ our Cub!!!!!!!

we loved the kodiak/cub 236 floorplan. the DW loved the counter space. but having the sofa across from the kitchen was odd and i believe that's why it and the Roo version were discontinued.
since used hybrids are rare out West, we decided to buy new. if we had found a used one with a good floor plan, we might have bought.
but for under $15K, we were able to get a new one with the floor plan we
wanted and with almost all the options we wanted.
that amount, out West, would have only bought a 17' one.
you have to be extremely thorough, when buying used. there are a lot of people who have bought used, only to find out later there were problems.

I have a 1999 Cub and have had no problems. As mentioned, you may want to budget for tires, brake & wheel bearing inspection / repair just so you know what you have. Other than that, use the money you save to take camping trips!

us too...but for the right price I could get used to it
As for being 5yo, it just depends if it looks its age. Did they cover it, wash it, wax it, touch up rust, seal cracked caulk, keep the water out, ect? When we were looking the used prices weren't far off the new prices so we splurged and bought new. Again, if the price is right...

Used trailers can be bargains if you do a detailed inspection. But note the 2009 campers have been on the lots since June and were coming off the line in May (or earlier) so a 2004 trailer could have been made 5 years ago and explosed to the weather ever since. Indifferent maintenance won't help.
Don't use NADA to determine a "good price." If you do only use the base price, the options don't add value as far as what you're paying, most options are on all of them.
I don't know who makes the Cub so I can't look it up.

We have a 2007 Cub 236. The DW loves the floor plan and the quality is above average for a lightweight camper. I am not that pleased with the comfort of the beds. You might want to look at the new models I think the Thermarest bunk ends are standard equipment on the 2009 models.

We have a 2003 Cub 236 and we love love lovvvveeee it. Did I mention we love it? We bought it used because we fell in love with the floor plan, and I fell in love with the kitchen counter space and all of the cabinets! (Especially after having a Rockwood with no counter space at all!) Even after two summers and looking at other units for fun, I have yet to see a floor plan I like better. The couch opposite the stove is no big deal - I'm assuming your unit also has the couch slide out? - it gives it a wonderful open, airy space.
The only problems we've had with ours is having some water get into the front bunk when it was closed after a heavy rain. Our dealer replaced the seals and it's been ok since then. As for new vs. used, I think you'll most likely have something to tweak or fix on whatever you buy. We bought a brand new Rockwood prior to our Cub and the entire A/C unit had to be replaced after just a couple of months of use. People here have posted excellent advice on what to look for on a used unit. Good luck on whatever you decide!
