If you are pretty much always at 7K or higher, I'd go ahead and change it. We luve at 8400 or so and almost never camp below about 6K, so we use the 7K+ jet. As the others said, it's more important going the other way in that lean can damage the engine. The only trip where I was worried was going to Indiana....I tried to find the low elevation jet before I left and couldn't. I ran it a little....seemed to have no problems but it made me a little nervous.

On the other hand, how many arguments have we heard about the 2000 not being big enough to run a 13,500 BTU AC at elevation? I have seen them run without problems, but WITH THE RIGHT JET. If you aren't going to run the AC it may not matter.

I camped for a week in Taylor Park at pretty close to 10,000 and kept my parents 5th wheel, my brothers TT, and our TC charged and working well the whole week including running a microwave while charging the other camper as well. These generators are great....you won't be sorry you bought it unless it gets stolen or something. Congrats!

And thanks for the directions....nice to have handy. We had the dealer put in the jet when we bought it and haven't changed it since. Maybe next time I'll remember to order the lowlander jet before we head east.

Thanks for the advice - The TC forum members are usually spot on when it comes to useful info. After considering my options, I do believe I will put the 4000 - 7000 ft. jet in, mostly because I can't conceive of a scenario where I will camp below the lower end, and more likely will spend most of my time at even higher elevations. I'll keep the OEM jet just in case I am forced to camp "below" my high standards

You mean the 6,000-10,000 right? Based on BigFootFord you'd want the 58.

The jet I will install is #60 for 4000 - 7000, mostly because there are a few places I go that are right around 5000 feet (but no lower), usually when it is snowing hard in the high country. Based on the feedback I've gotten, the one thing you don't want to do is run a leaner jet at lower elevations, and it seems that there is less of an issue running rich at the higher altitude. If my thinking is in error, I have no doubt someone smarter than me will come along to correct me.

You are correct and I don't think anyone will argue with it. But I suspect the 1000' below 'ideal' range wouldn't be a problem. On the other hand, don't forget, that temperature has similar effect on jetting; cold winter air is more dense and contains more oxygen (per air volume) which would compound the effect. Lower elevation AND winter temps means lots of oxygen so you need more fuel....probably a good bet going with the mid-range jet.
