After having an engine fire in a MH I know that 12+ extinguishers from many people who stopped as road was blocked, were able to hold back the fire until the Fire Department was able to finally put the fire out.

Unless the fire is minor I believe that the ones supplied by the RV are sufficient. We had two in the coach and another in the toad and sure needed the rest from truckers and whomever.

We have the one that came with the coach (by the passenger seat up front) and a largeer one in the bedroom plus one in the toad. In case of fire our goal is to just get out and not worry abotu the damage...that can always be repaired/replaced.

I carry 2 Halon 10 or 12 lb extinguishers...one is next to the bed on the floor and the other is by the dining table...they are too large to tuck away at the front door...they also will not make a mess if I am unlucky enough to ever have to use them....

Bought 5 from Mac the Fire Guy. By the entrance door, in the kitchen, in the bedroom in the propane compartment, never locked curbside front and in the tow'd. Took the toy that came with the coach and stashed in the generator compartment, street side rear, not lockable.

Plan is to get away from the coach with an extinguisher in hand then see if there is any hope of saving it. Extinguisher in the gen is about the tow'd as it is close to the tow'd. For a gen fire I would use one of the others.

In case of a fire, i wonder how much time one has to even use these extinguishers.
By the time the fire is detected, it has been already burning for a few minutes.
I would save any life first and get the hell out. From what i have heard, in about 10minutes or so, entire MH will be in flames that cannot be fought with one or multiple dinky extinguishers that comes with the MH
On the other hand, an automatic fire monitoring system using cold-fire would act rightaway when the fire is detected, within less than a minute and put it out. But these systems are pricey. Check out http://rvsafetysystems.com/
I have no affiliation to them.
