Well, I am coming up on the one year anniversary when I had to put down my companion. I still miss him every day and cannot wait until Guide Dogs for the Blind calls me and tells me that they have another "career changed" dog for me. This past year has been the hardest year of my life, First it was my "Trusty", then DW's mom got really sick and now DW has spend 19 days out of the last six weeks in the hospital and we are still facing two more surgeries to repair pancreas damage She could be down for at least 4 more months. Summer sure was fun Trailer sits still unused except for the two months that the kids were living in it until they bought a house. Oh well, maybe next year

Donn.... I am so sorry to hear about all your troubles. With everything you have going on I think that it's only natural for you to miss Trusty as you approach the anniversary date. Truth is it would be natural even without everything you've been through... I hope you will take extra gentle care of yourself during this time.
Perhaps someday you can adopt another dog from the guide dog organization, only you will know when it's time to do so. Trusty will always have a special place in your heart and it sounds like your heart is big enough to share that space with a new pet sometime.
You and your wife will be in my prayers.
Best wishes for better days ahead.

I am also so sorry to hear about the last year and understand completely about Trusty. We had to put my baby down last year at the age of 5. Her favorite place to sleep was under my shirt because she was always cold. (she weighed 8 pounds). I miss her every day, too. I know things will look up for you and your wife. You are in our prayers as well. God bless you.
PS I have always wanted to tell you that we lived in Oregon for two years and I constantly correct people with the pronounciation of that beautiful state!

Gee, some years are tougher than others. Sorry this has been one of those really bad ones.
Sure hope your wife is able to be on the mend soon. It sounds a bit overwhelming, to say the least.
Please keep us posted on how everyone is doing -- and if you get a new Fur Friend, we'd love to hear about that, too.
