We just came back from a long trip. We didn't use Pilot stations because there wasn't enough room at the gasoline pumps in the front of the stations for us to get in and out of. We weren't sure if the truck pumps in the back of the station offer gasoline. Does anyone know if the truck pumps offer gasoline at Pilot?

I don't think they do. I've yet to see gasoline offered in the truck lanes of any truck stop. A phone call or a trip inside to the fuel counter could probably verify that though.

Also there hose nozzles will not fit in a regular tank fill pipe even if it is a diesel rig. Also not a good mix anyway.I have found the same thing at some truck stops.I have noticed that some truck stops are putting in RV lanes and some even have dump stations at them.

Generally the truck pumps only have "D" not "G" at most stations
I find that getting an outside pump is best.. Wish I'd have done that on my last fill up but alas.. That's why I have insurance

No there is no gas pumps at the Pilot station truck area only diesel. They sometimes have a end pump designated for RV's but not always. When using the end pump I usually pull in and turn around so that my RV is headed towards the exit it makes it easier to get out. Also not all Flying J's have RV pumps either on our trip out West this spring we found finding a gas station that had enough room for a RV towing a car to get in and out easily a hit and miss propostition. We wasted a considerable amount of time getting off the highway to get gas only to find that the gas station was not set up right, too small or too busy.

We ran into a similar situation at a Canadian Travel America station last weekend. Their gas was 5 cents a litre cheaper than all the other stations but we could not make the turn to get into the lanes. The truck area only had diesel - no gas. Seems to me they are missing out on the RV market -

We whent out west from Mi to CA last winter. Our stops were 99% at Flying J and had no trouble getting our MH (with car in tow) into and out of the Rv fuel lanes. I did check the Flying J web site before we left so I knew the ones that "did" and "did not" have RV lanes. The internet "does" help in trip planning.

We like to fuel up at Flying J's and did also consult the Flying J website and their brochures but neither specifically identified which Flying J locations actually had dedicated RV fueling lanes many Travel Centers did not. We have sent a note to Flying J and suggested that they please identify on there website and in there literature which locations specifically have dedicated RV fueling lanes with gas and diesel available so that RVers traveling will know for sure.

I use the truck lanes all the time Wink, and I have never had any problems with the nozzles. They are larger than a standard gasoline nozzle but they should fit just fine in a diesel motorhome, unless some have smaller filler openings than others.

Thanks everyone. We'll continue to evaluate each station on a case by case basis. We've had good luck with Flying J.
