OK, someone or maybe many of you out there have stack able washer and drier combos Right?

Since I rebuilt the kitchen in my Stick and brick home I have an opening behind the wall where the current washer and drier are now.. I am looking at "maybe" putting in a stacked washer and drier. electric dry. as it would be with in 2 feet of where they are currently plumbing and wiring is not a huge issue. ( and I got a good fixit guy)

So, what recommendations do you have as to brands.

Keep in mind I am a single guy now and don't need the huge older units I have .

thanks Gang..

Whirlpool has the best on the market. Some Kenmore Stackables are made by Whirlpool and some are by Frigidaire which is made with mostly parts out of Asia and won't last as long.

We have a whirlpool stacked set in our rig...we use the rig about 50% of the time and over the past 2.5 years have put on over 18,000 miles. so far the stacked unit has worked well for us with no complaints at all.

Last year I purchased a Maytag stack unit, compact size. Just the right size for us. I have it in a utility room on our rv site. Good decision for us.
Very energy efficient.

I love my Kenmore (whirlpool) stacked units....the 1200 rpm spin of the washer really gets the water out and shorter drying time....there is however a little vibration. We had to set additional plywood on the floor under the washer to absorb the vibration.

Back in the 1970's, I had the small apartment size stackable units and they met my needs well too.

Frigidaire makes a really nice, all in one, "stacked" unit that fits nicely into a relatively small space but actually holds a full load. We have one in our "casita" in Mission, TX. Can be bought at Lowes for around $800 for the whole unit. Since the units are already "stacked" together you don't have to figure out how to mount anything...just push it into it's space and hook it up.

Your starting out new so think it through. How expensive is your power??? Are you on a septic field... or a well? Is water saving important? Is energy efficiency going to pay off?

Not all stackables are created equal... but they all come rated for water consumption and efficiency. Price will vary but I think the LG line is one of the most efficient. Kenmore / Whirlpool the lowest cost.

They all produce clean clothes .... at a cost.

We purchased an Amana set for our house. They are very efficient and quite easy to operate. My Bride says they are they best washer and dryer that she's ever used. We bought them at Home Depot. It was the least expensive large capacity set they had.

Question: How long does it take to dry, lets say a load of blue jeans in the combo washer dryer?
