I replaced my dometic refer with a standard AC refer recently. All went well and I'm happy with it. But now I have to get rid of the dometic. I am in a seasonal park in MN now, and contacted several RV dealers for advice. They didn't want it and couldn't help. The MN law requires that refrigerators be taken to appliance recycle places. I called around - some places said they couldn't take RV refrigerators, and others would take it, but at a charge of $225, because they have to deal with the gas. Seems kindof high! That kind of charge would make you consider finding a ditch way out in the country. But my luck, they'd get the serial number, track me down, and put me in jail. But seriously, does anyone know of an alternative for getting rid of it? I don't think I'll have a choice here, but before spending that kind of money, just thought I'd ask.

Put it on the curb with a for sale sign on it. If someone doesn't buy it, it will most likely be stolen!!

Take it to the dump. with other junk you might have. Rv refer uses ammonia and water not freon.few people can handle properly that do A/c work. It not a CFC so it could just leak out. just stand up wind. think of a strong bottle of kitchen ammonia. heck if your towns like mine just set it out with your trash and the junkers will grab it. pull the door. good luck.

I don't know if this is in your county, but this MN Recycling center takes RV refrigerators for a $30.00 fee.
And a whole bunch more!

Have you looked in the yellow pages or talked to some of the local RV parks and asked who they would call for "on-site" repairs to an RV ?
Here is Carson City, Nevada we have no less than 4 RV repairmen with pickup trucks or vans that go out to any type of RV anywhere within 100 miles and work on an RV..
Those same RV repairmen also are glad to take the old fridge off your hands and thank you for it.. They use them for parts ..
They don't pay you for it ... but neither do they charge you to haul it away...

TWO CENTS WORTH
The story goes that a man died and was approached by the Devil who told him that he could buy his soul back for a dollar. The man searched his pockets and could only come up with 98 cent. While begging the Devil to forget the two cent he was short, an Angel happened by and hearing the Devil laughing, asked the man, "Would you mind if I put in my two cents ?" The Devil got so mad that he exploded in a puff of smoke and the man's soul was saved.
The moral: Sometimes putting in your two cents worth makes a difference.

Haven't kids gotten in these things and suffocated? Take the door off before you hire someone to get rid of it.
