Wow! Very nice pictures. Where exactly is the Eastern Sierra? What town or population "center" or "small town" would be considered the staging point for that destination? That looks like a very fun trip. Was there riding out of that campground? Or, did you not take your toys on that particular trip?

It's on the east side of the Sierra range, which is in California. California is on the west coast.

Here's a few other pictures in the same proximity:

Yosemite is a short drive from the June lake area. And, if you want to do a 21 mile run from the Valley floor up to Clouds Rest and back (a quick 10 hours up and back), here's the view:

More pictures here:
Cloud's Rest run

That entire area around the eastern sierra is beautiful and well worth visiting. In fact, you can camp in several areas and drive to others for short day hikes.

When I was in the Southern California Edison Hydroelectric Division, I was the Mono Basin Superintendent. I Used to live there at the Rush Creek Power house across the highway from Silver Lake until I bought a house in Mammoth Lakes in 1983.

The lake in the background is Silver Lake. The tracks are for a still used cable tram that takes maintenance workers from near the Power House up to Agnew Lake whenever maintenance is needed at the Dam Headworks. It's a VERY STEEP 1600 foot elevation change. There's another tram that goes back to a larger reservoir named Gem Lake, and the elevation change there is about 1000 feet but not quite as steep.

Tow Vehicle:
