So we pull into the campground tonight about 8PM to check in and find out that the lots we (friends and us w/2 TT's) reserved (2 next to each other in a quiet area away from campground traffic) have people still on them and that they extended their stay another month. Supposedly they are pipe fitters working in the area and have been here since April. Today they were supposed to leave but decided to extend their stay so we are now stuck with two different lots without sewer. We called a few other area campgrounds but everything is booked. I'm a bit upset but trying to make the best of it. My question to you is: What would you have done in this situation?
Would you have left without paying?
Would you have demanded they make the people move since you were reserved the specific lots?
Stayed and took the lots that were available and just delt with it?

I would have done #3, but made sure I got some money back since it wasn't a full hookup.

lets see, you want them to displace people who have been paying for 5 months and will pay for another month or two so people can stay the weekend? If they can put you up at a lower rate you aren't out that much IMHO.

Go to rvpark reviews and rate the campground accordingly. At least that way others can see how this campground handles their reservations.

without attitude, speak with owner/management, and use it as leverage for future concessions.
Think of it as a "good will gesture" you have extended to the CG, permitting them to break the contract they and you had, and as compensation to you for your dissatisfaction with their customer service, you will get _________ on a future visit(s).
This is bound to occur at times, and workampers are the only exception I would consider, a weekly stay does not permit interruption of my reserved weekend.

Most places I've stayed have limits on time in campground. Many times I've come to a campground and been told the space is only available for x number of days, then I would have to move because someone has that space reserved. I've always respected this as someday I may be the one reserving that spot. I would give the campground a poor review. After all, what is a reservation for?

I'm not one to make a big seen but I've been camping for the weekened and decided to stay an extra night and had to pack up and move to a diff. site for the new people coming in.The pipe fitters should have packed up and moved to a diff. site.It might be a diff. story if the campground knew the pipefitters were changing plans and called the weekenders before they left home to give them an option.With-out us weekened campers the campgrounds would go under,I know everywhere I go I drop a good bit of money at the cg.To answer your ques. I would have stayed and let my wife unload on them while I set up at the other site. She'll come back w/a discount for the next trip or come back and say never again here, but your already there so have fun enjoy the long weekened cause I'm at work right now(jealous, thats all)
