40 Foot Class A towing a minivan -
Better to take I-15 to UT 20 to US 89
or
I-15 to I-70 to US 89? looks like only an additional 20 miles?

Or does someone have another route they would recommend?

Thank you.

I-15 to I-70 to US 89 will be a little flatter route.
SR 20 has a 7% grade on the approaches to the 7910 foot summit.

Either route is ok I-15 4 lane interstate other roads all good 2 lane roads. The I-15,20,89 route is probably the fastest while the I-15,I-70,89 more relaxed and scenic this is the route we prefer. If time allows stop at Cove Fort junction I-18 and I-70 they have done a good job of reconstruction of an old fort.Have fun

Get Mountain Directory West at www.mountaindirectory.com or other sources for info on steep grades and curvy roads. This book will help determine the best route in 11 western states.

Dick B - Thanks for the suggestion, should have mentioned that we already have the Mountain Directory West - both routes have issues listed in the directory.

NevadaJim - thanks for the feedback on the two routes. We're looking for scenic and relaxed. We'll try to take a look at the fort you suggested.

Chief,

If you are looking for relaxed and scenic – look at Rt 6 to I-70 to Goblin Valley SP then to Capital Reef NP on Rt12 to Kodachrome Basin SP and then to Bryce – another 100 miles but you will get your moneys worth. We have found that Utah has so many unique qnd different places they could easily have 10 NP's -- just doesn't seem fair -- you need to get off the interstates and see the country, get into the State Parks you’ll be glad you did.

I'd say I15 to highway 28 to 89.

Or I15 to highway 6 and then 89.
