For $25k I would seriously consider a 2004 Ford Lightning too.

My toad is a 2001 Mustang GT, 5 speed, bought new and now has 11000 miles. Gets 20 mpg in town and around 30 on the highway. High performance can have economy. It tows great and fun when we get there.

Honestly, if I can ever afford a weekend / fun car, I hope it's one of these:

I worked at a Cadillac dealer when these were new and drove an all red convert with only 22,000 miles on it a few years ago, what a great car to drive. The front seat has more leg room than your living room.

For $25K you can have a C3 (1968-1982) or C4 (1984-1996) that will run 11-second quarters, top out north of 150MPH (as in, a C4 could run the double-century on the Salt Flats with safety gear), and still be docile enough to commute in, A/C blowing cold. How? An equasion follows:
Used Corvette+LS1+TH700R4+Turbonetics+Painless Wiring+GM Performance Parts+Hotchkiss Suspension. Mix thoroughly, at approximately 12psi. Should pull down an easy and stone-reliable 600HP.
