We are going to enter Mexico just West of El Paso at Santa Teresa, travel down the interior to Torreon, head East to Cd. Valles, on to the Emerald Coast on the Gulf of Mexico, South to Catemaco, turn inland to Puebla, on to Taxco, down to Acapulco on the West Coast, back up to Patzcuaro, north to Guadalajara, on to Leon, San Miguel De Allende, North to Zacatecas and on home back in USA. (subject to a small amount of change) There is a TON of sidetrips and visits to Pueblos Magico. Going to have a ball.

We will cross late November after our house sitter arrives. If you want to join us for the first leg of the trip across the Northern Border Area or whatever portion, send us a message via this site or post to this thread and we will contact you. We would not mind traveling with someone this year thu the Northern Border Area.

You have named some of our favorite haunts in Mexico. Enjoy.

Between Patzcuaro and Guadalajara stop in Ururapan. Visit Paracutin (sp), the volcano that sprang up in the corn field in the 1940's and buried a village and the National Park that runs on the west side of town.

Thanks wolfe. Volcano & Ururapan are both on the list. About the only thing we are not going to do in the area on this trip is the Butterflies. Next time.

Thanks again,

Don't forget Queretaro. It's worth to stop and visit. I also recomend Tequisquiapan and Peña de Bernal. If you are traveling in a group they let you stay in Walmart. From Queretaro City it's about 40 minutes to San Miguel Allende, Tequisquiapan and the Pena de Bernal.

Anything you need when you are around just emai us. We'll be happy to help you.

Bienvenidos amigos!!

Thanks elviejoylachula! Bernal & Queretaro are on the list. I don't know if we will make it to Tequisquiapan, we will try. There are just so many places to visit. Need to save a couple days just for just relaxing in the campground!

Still have no takers for traveling together the first couple of days! Perfect opportunity for the first timer.

We had a ton of fun in Queretaro. We were there during Semana Santa and the place was really hopping. We stayed at the rv park North of town. Easy access and just minutes from the center of town. There is plenty of mall and grocery shopping right off the highway too.

Rocmoc,

I've been watching this thread with interest as I would really like to tag along.....but your schedule is a bit early for me.

I am considering joining a Vagabundos tour that leaves 02/01/09 but would really prefer tagging along with a smaller group. Maybe another time.

Please answer a question for me.....Is internet access generally available throughout Mexico? I need my "fix" every few days.

Thanks for any information.

Roger

P.S. on edit...I see in your profile that you also have a larger toyhauler. Is that what you take to Mexico?

crrroger, Yes & yes!

Yes, we find more FREE WiFi available in Mexico than we do in the USA. Nearly every campground we have stayed at has had FREE WiFi. There also are Internet Cafes most everywhere.

Yes, we take the house with us. Just short of 38' and 12'6" tall. When hooked up 53' long with a couple bikes loaded in the garage area. The bikes are for those questionable streets. A short ride and we know if we should be going down a street. Still we have had a few nervous moments.

Next time, we go SOB a couple or more times a year. You are close by for one of our shorter trips during the rest of the year. Have fun with the Vagabundos. Have heard nothing but good about them.

Now that is a smart idea. I have always said, it is a good idea to leave the rig if unsure and take a taxi. Or, have a taxi lead you through the city.

On our last Semana Santa trip, we did that a lot. We got to the town and left the rig in the main plaza and took a taxi to check out boondocking spots. Works great, no hassles and no bottlenecks. We need to get a couple of bikes. (are you talking bicycles or motorcycles?). I could do a scooter!

Chris:

Have you seen all those Chinese scooters they sell in Mexico? There are some that look like pseudo dirt bikes. Larger chassis and more CC's. They look like fun.
