On my MH the shower faucet assembly was installed upside down. The outlet pipe was sticking up. I'm assuming mine was not the only one. This made the flexhose bend over from the top and hang down and eventually developed a kink, resulting in a leak. Replacement cost of a polished brass hose was $35.
The access point for the plumbing in the shower was under a mirror in the bedroom. Simply remove the water lines and turn the assembly over to let the outlet pipe on the shower side point dowm. This allows the flex hose to hang straight down and will avoid the kinking. It helps if you have a helper to keep the valve assembly from falling inside the shower when you take it loose. The "H" and "C" designators can be popped out and reversed.
Don't forget to turn the water pressure off before you loosen things and then turn it back on to check for leaks after you have reinstalled everything.

OK, let yours point up then, but be prepared to replace a kinked hose.

Our outside shower controls were installed upside down (in my opinion). Simple fix. I flipped it over to be certain it would winterize properly.

Mine points up and the hose passes through a support loop about a foot above the faucet. No problem with kinked hose.

OK, perhaps the correct installation is with hose up. However, in my opinion, that would be ok for a stick house. But bouncing around going around the country has to stress the hose. My suggestion was for a way to avoid a possible problem in the future. A little preventative maintenance never hurts.

Some do it right and some don't. My old Bounder has the outlet pointing down so the hose don't kink.

Howard, what ever anyone says, isn’t it great when you fix something and all goes well? If it works for you, great, your fix made sense to me. Made me look at my shower and guess what, it's facing down...LOL

I know it feels great when I fix something, feel like I accomplished something, especially when I don't have to use the sledge hammer on it.

I've had them both ways. Can't ever remember a problem on either one.

Well, I guess after 14 years and not having a kinking problem I'll leave mine pointing up. Seems for winterizing you would want it up so all the water drains out of the hose when the hose gets pulled straight up.
