go for it do what you need to make it comfortable for you. I have a 2008 TT I already redid the bedroom taking out the queen bed put in twin beds and rehung the cabinets above the beds. I'm also taking out the dinette so I have room for a swivel recliner.
Your PUP is 9 yrs old it won't hurt selling it if it's done right and looks good.

I'm with you on the toilet and shower. I think it is a total waste of space. The way I see it, to have enough water and pressure for the shower, you need to hook up to hose. If you are in a park with water, you most likely have bathrooms. Besides, our Starcraft space shuttle has an outdoor shower. We have never used the shower. We HAVE used the toilet, but I'm sure we could get by without. My wife and I used to have a VW bus. We had a 5 gallon buket with plastic bag liners, and A TOILET SEAT WE PUT ON TOP. now, we would opt for a small cassette type, tucked away.
I'd love the extras space if the big box were removed. Maybe I don't use my water tank and pump properly.

We camped for many years in a 1988 Jayco, with no toilet or shower. We never used the sink either. We always do dishes on the tailgate of the truck in dish pans. We just bought a 2008 Jayco and we definately wanted it without a shower/toilet to us just a waste of space. We have a porta potty to use at night (Luggable Loo from Cabela's) We have used the sink in this one, which is much bigger. We still have not done a meals worth of dishes, but it is handy to have. We sold our old one to a friend for $300 and he took out the fridge and cabinets, and then sold it again...not sure how much he got for it.
Anyway, do what works for you and yours and don't worrry about what others think. Some prospective buyers (particularly of much older models) would relish the creativity of mods.

Head on down to the bath house! We never ran water through any of our PUP's, so I can agree with the wasted space issue. It's your PUP, do with it what you want! Good luck!

Go For It! It sound like a great mod! We always use the showers/bathrooms at the campgrounds. Middle of the night trips have never been a problem as we got used to it from our tent camping days. We do now have a porta-potty that gets used by the wee ones.
It's your pup and do to it what you would like so that your trips are the best! Having a dresser to put your clothes in when camping sounds like a great idea.
We have a 2005 Yuma with a flip over stove/sink combo and we cut the thing in half removing the stove but keeping the sink which we cover when not in use. Now, we have access to the fridge when the pup is closed which makes packing up for a trip so much easier. We do all our cooking outside so the stove was not used. When it comes time to resell, we'll get what we get for it, but have all the memories made in the years we camped in it. Who knows you may find someone who likes what you did to it and must make it theirs!
Good Luck with the project and take pictures. Would love to see the finished product.

Our Pup has the shower/toilet combo as well. Contrary to what the dealer thought, it was NOT a selling point for me. In fact, I asked if we could get the same model w/o. In our third trip, however, the toilet did come in handy, due to a late-night downpour and some anxious kids. Normally, though, we use the area to store our trash can, toiletries, towels, etc. Maybe it's just me, but storage space is a top-sell--I think a TT can never have enough!
I say, do what you want to make your trips more convenient for you. It sounds to me like you already know what you're doing.

Regarding the question about weight of the hypothetical dresser, what about using or adapting some of the nice plastic (not hard plastic, they're more like Rubbermaid) drawer sets that I see at Ikea, Home Depot or Lowes? They must weigh less than wood, and it seems like it would be easy to adapt them to fit your bath space.
We are hoping to add some to our PUP.
As for not using the bathroom area in the tent trailer - I'm all for it. It's your trailer so do what you like - and I've lived without a built in potty for 50+ years, so I'm not seeing the problem :-) Don't worry about resale value, like someone else said, you can always put in a Porta if you feel you need to, but the value will be so low, don't sweat it - do what you want.

One thing we've realized not having a built in bathroom is that the campground/camping experience gets rated on the quality or upkeep of the restrooms. We have camped at places that we have heard from TT friends that were great, only to be tarnished by nasty and abused restrooms. We have also learned our lesson and will not camp on holiday weekends anymore for the same reason.
I understand the challenge of modifying your camper, but I think you can achieve your storage goals by other methods. You didn't state how long you've been using the camper. The bathroom may seem like a good idea after some trips to restrooms like we've had.

Yep, that's why I got the bathroom option. I hate being limited to the campgrounds based on their bathrooms. Most of the nicer nature oriented campgrounds are older, with a lot of tenters, that seem to leave the bathrooms messier than I feel comfortable with.
My favorite campground only has 2 urinals and 3 toilet stalls for the entire campground. It also has 3 shower stalls. While they are clean, they are old with a lot of bugs in there. Girlfriend hates it but then again, that's why I have a bathroom in my PUP. She just doesn't like small areas but she'll have to use the PUPs bathroom if she wants to visit the more nature oriented parks and not the fast paced, surbanite, amusement park retreats that hardly resemble a campground, just an RV parking lot.
For the tent, I have a porta potty because I've ran into a lot of parks not having enough toilets or enough CLEAN toilets. In fact some were not even operational. Showers for the most part have been clean enough, but shower curtains may be gone or torn. Once again a nature oriented campground, not a Yogi Bear, KOA, or another amusement RV parking lot.
As you, I pick my campgrounds by the beauty of the natural environment. Not the beauty of the bathrooms.
Have a good one.

Being the female of the species, I wouldn't give up my potty/shower in the PUP. It was a requirement when I bought it! Medical issues can drastically change your needs as can aging!
When tent camping, we had a separate potty tent as the distance from site to bathhouse (especially in the middle of the night) was a good 10 minute walk.
I can't tell you how much I don't miss - the middle of the night, toe stubbing trek to a buggy bathhouse. Also don't miss the restrooms being closed for cleaning. The occassional clogged toilet or other users abuse of facilities. Don't miss seeing the mold/meldew under the handicapped seat, or the busted shower head in the shower (handicapped seemed to retain it's curtain).
