That's what I found funny - 2 days ago this storm was going to be a cat 5 and be one of the top 3 ever to hit the U.S. Reality: It was a cat 3 that fell to cat 2 right before making landfall. Then there was the expected huge increase in the price of oil/gas. Reality: Even though many rigs and refineries were shut down, the price of crude dropped $11 today. The hurricane was headed straight for N.O. Reality: It made landfall 72 miles away. The OP is right - there was lots of news reported before it happened, unfortunately most of it didn't actually happen. (And it doesn't matter of you're watching CNN, Fox, MSNBC, or the networks - it's the same all the way around.)

I think you have it....they gotta keep their lips moving to get paid.
Just heard a barge is loose....then they corrected themselves it is not confirmed....well, then why say it was in the first place.

"Martians have landed....well, they haven't landed yet....not yet anyway but....they might...." cut to commercial.

No, they have landed. Oops, wait a minute. That wasn't them. Rats, my mistake, they just landed in Phoenix. Wait, make the Toronto.

Please disregard the previous announcement. Our lead cameraman was just watching "War of the Worlds".

But they could be landing and when they do we will be there. "Only on blah blah blah".

Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?

With all of the 24 hour "news" shows out there now, it is not about the news, but about ratings. So truth gets blown away........

Sad, really.
