Has anyone replaced an HWH solenoid? My LR leveler will lift but will not hold. HWH troubleshooting guide says it is the solenoid. How difficult is this to replace?

Levelers have worked intermittently for about a year, sometimes yes, sometimes no, thought it was low battery voltage as they would always refuse to work initially on a trip and later would work fine. On a recent trip they worked fine going out but not on return.

Found the leveling system ground cable burnt off at the chassis grounding stud. The Stainless steel stud broke off on removal. Couldn't drill it out, heat and vice grips didn't work so I removed the whole system and took to a machine shop for removal. Had a new ground cable made at a welding shop. Upon reinstall, the left rear leveler will not hold and is leaking and the right rear solenoid is leaking badly but will hold. Front jacks will lift and hold, their solenoids are not leaking. The solenoids stayed on the manifold upon its removal and were not bothered except to disconnect the hydraulic lines and to disconnect the electrical packard plug.

Is this normal for these solenoids to start leaking from removing the pressure for a day and then reapplying hydraulic pressure ? The system is 14 years old. It is a model 610 system on a 1995 Winnebago Luxor DP.

Thanks for any help.

Hi,
If you have good access, it should be easy. They just screw out.
Make sure O-ring is intact. Don't overtighten.

Very simple. Just replaced the extend solenoid for my slide. With "good enough" access to the manifold, I used water pump pliers and simply unscrewed it. Minimal fluid loss. Hand tight, then 1/4 turn with pliers. Total success.

I had the EXACT same problem happen to me a week ago. (FYI...the HWH leveling system has been a nightmare since we purchased it.) The two rears and the passenger front went down and leveled as expected. (Same as yours, after waiting for the "battery" light to stay off long enough for the jacks to come down.) When we got ready to pack up and leave, we noticed that the driver front never extended all the way (I'd say about 4-5 inches down, but not in contact with the ground). Did it go back up? Nope! Just sat right there. I had all the others going up and down...up and down...up and down. Finally dug the manual out and read how to turn the T-screw to release the pressure and let the jack retract manually.

I've spent probably $2,000 on diagnosing and repairing various problems with the system (1996 Mountain Aire DP). Not happy with it. Basically, just frustrated!!!

have replaced 2 solenoids and the caution is, do not turn the end cap, use the body of the solenoid to do the twisting.
hwh 610 lots of problems, but what is the alternative?
