Thanks for the inside info everybody. I think I may go with the 22gal 2 wheel barker model. My tanks black/gray are 30gal each. Am I going to regret the 22gal choice, mainly because of size & cost($99 at JC Whitney), or should I get the 30gal model? Thanks again

Bought the Thetford 18 gallon from Camping World last week. The other larger ones are hugh and I, personally, refer to make 2 trips.
Love the design with the built in hose.
But, this is a subjective issue and many will not agree with me.

I have a blue, 2 wheel, 22 gallon model, not sure who makes it. I bought it with the camper. I upgraded to pneumatic tires and love it. I have 30 gallon gray tanks. With the new tires it pulls easily and I have no trouble tipping it up to dump. I dump when sensors show 2/3 full. Right at 22 gallons. I believe 30 gallons might be a little heavy for easy handling.

A late reply to your question: I have the 15 gallon two wheel model. It came with a metal loop hook over the hitch behind the car. I pulled it to the dumping station once by hand, and my hands were very tired by the time I got there (120 lbs).
Sounds like many choices for you. Just pick one and not to worry!

I had a tote n stor. I couldn't keep the axle on it...Always popped off while pulling it while full. It finally popped off inside my truck bed...while upside down...at 65 mph & bounce out of the truck (under the tailgate net) & manage to bounce up off of the interstate & dent my aluminum shirting on my 5th wheel. I would guess it's a pop bottle by now.

I welcome your comments on my plans:
I’ve wanted to get one of these tanks for a long time. I just couldn’t figure out where to store it when it’s not in use. I don’t want to carry it on my roof or on the back of the motorhome – I don’t want to see it.
In three years of fulltiming, I would have used one of these four or five times. It would have been helpful in numerous other situations when I was conserving on creating gray water more than may have been necessary.
I’ve found a spot between the chassis rails on my coach where I could suspend it underneath the motorhome while traveling. Then I could just crawl under there and drop it and pull it out when I need it.
I am getting one of those hitch-mounted cargo racks for my toad. I was thinking that I could put the tank on the cargo rack to haul it to the dump station. This would be helpful in those campgrounds that don’t even have a central dump (I spent eight days in a campground where the nearest dump station was a 45 minute drive).
I also have a macerator pump that would enable me to pump my gray or black tank into the portable tank even from a distance, if I was unable to back the toad near the RV valve.
So for me, I want to get the largest tank that I can hide under my coach chassis and fit on my toad’s cargo rack. The tank’s wheels are of less importance to me.

Gary-
Between the frame rails is where I rigged a rope & pulley system on my previous 5th wheel, haven't done it to this one yet. It worked great. Honey pot is always with you for those unforeseen full campground overflows & lost reservations. Also allows you to stay at some great state parks w/o moving the RV for dumping.
Certainly seems like the rest of your idea should work for you.
...I can usually only think like that when I have a fishing pole in one hand & a beer in the other...I think the two form a smart antenna....

We bought a 22 gallon barker blue tote from RVExit which offered free shipping. Replaced the axle and tires as most everyone else has done, see this post.

I think I bought the same one 18 Gallon Smart Tote
It's about as big as I can handle. I haven't used it, yet. I was glad to see that someone liked the Thetford. I'm a little shaky about how to use it. I'm assuming that even if there's 30 gallons in my grey tank, it will stop at 18 automatically. Am I right?

It will stop when the tank is full if you don't have the top cap off. Otherwise the waste water will run out. BUT....if you let it run until the tank is full, there will still be waste water in the hose...what do you do with that.? What you want to do, is carefully monitor the level in the tank and stop it while you still have room to drain the hose.
With my 32 Gal. transport, it will hold everything in my grey water tank, so I don't have to worry about overflow. No muss, no fuss. I just keep the tank in the back of my pickup (I have a cap/topper on my truck). I even keep it there between trips, I stand it on end at the front of the bed and hold it in place with some straps. Easy to get it in and out. I usually don't take it out unless I have something very large to carry or it's winter (then it goes in the trailer for a long winter's nap).
