The year before last we did the East Coast route, last year it was the West Coast. This year we plan to travel down the middle through some of the colonial cities to Acapulco. We would like not to be tied down with reservations and just take the journey as it presents itself. We don't usually spend more than a week in any one place so do you think reservations would be needed near the beach towns around Acapulco. Any info or ideas would be appreciated. Forgot to mention: we probably will be entering Mexico in December, we have a 19' travel trailer and we travel with two 50lb dogs.

We have never found we needed reservations except the west coast.

And you should be early enough to avoid some of the winter traffic.

You will not have trouble getting into the CG's inland. You may have trouble finding a CG in some areas. Acapulco is almost always filled and I dont remember any CG's in the beach towns. The coastal road north of Acapulco has almost zero CG's. The beach sucks in Acapulco. The city is a huge busy place. If you like to party and want noise this is the place. Personally, there are better places to spend your $.

I agree with all the above. We traveled the interior from February 07 till April 07 and ran into only one CG that was anywhere near full. We travel the same as you with no reservations. My old company used to try to tell me what to do and when to do it but I got out of that in 2000 .

I have never been to Acapulco but from everything I have heard, Moisheh is correct. It is not on our list of places to go to.

There are only a couple of places where it gets tight and you may have to dry camp until a spot opens. For the most part no reservations needed. You may not get the best space or a good space, but you will get space.

Have never made a reservation and have always been able to find somewhere to Park the RV! The key for Us is to travel during daylight hours and Look for a place to stay while the Sun is still Up! Sometimes it has been a bit tough to get the Choicest spots!

We've never had a reservation anywhere in Mexico and have never spent a night on the street as a result. We're not big fans of reservations anywhere. Other than our summer spot I don't think we've had 10 reservations for more than 24 hours anywhere.
