Did the vet offer to do a needle biopsy? Our pooch pops fatty tumors and our vet does the needle biopsies then if there suspicious he goes in. Could it have been a bug bite or a splinter? Reguardless I hope everything turns out ok and you are worrying needlessly. Good Luck

The needle biopsy was offered and I refused it, I don't want to put diabetic Zachery through any more stress than is necessary so one surgery was my choice.
I can't get him in today, my vet is on her own with her partner on maternity leave so it will be Friday.
So the waiting game will begin.

My sincere thoughts and prayers for Zackery. I truly hope everything will be fine. I can't believe it's been a year ago that the both of us lost our dogs, Jessie and Sofie. It seems like it was just yesterday.

MY heart goes out to you right now Sher as I understand what you are going through. Be calm and hug Zachery more than ever just incase. Give Zachery a huge hug from Nova Scotia. I do hope everything will be okay and I know it will be a difficult few days but hang in there and keep talking with us so we can help you get through to Friday. I will say a prayer for you both this evening. Keep in touch.

Zachery had his surgery today, it went very well. The growth was completely encapsulate, it was not attached to anything like the bone or tendon.
The vet was pleased, there was very little blood....it looks good but I won't cheer too loud until I get the results back next week.
It's been an exhausting day, Zach's surgery, was Sofie's birhday (would have been 12) and our 38th anniversary, probably a good time to settle down and have a glass of wine on the deck.
Zachery was so excited when I picked him up, he's sleeping now but he was one happy dog to be back home.

Really good news, even if the histo results don't turn out to be the best. The fact that it was encapsulated and they got it out is GREAT news.

Thanks Dr. Doug that's pretty much what my vet said, she was pretty excited. She did take some margin tissue, I think she said 2 cm, down where this was there wasn't a lot of tissue to get, it was the real boney part of the lower leg, can't wait for the histo results.
Thanks

Good news... that will hopefully make the wait for the test results a bit more bearable.
