I have a 2005 Rage'n and an annoying radio hum. This hum comes through the speakers when ever I am using a power oulet from the house or the generator. It does not do it when using just the batteries in the trailer. It worked fine (until the warranty ran out). Anyone have ideas?

Try a plug adapter that does NOT use the ground plug/pin. Available at Ace Hardware. Plug your 3 prong into it and then plug IT, the two prong into the outlet. Worked for me!

If it's 60 Hz hum, then you have a bad ground somewhere. Check that the radio chassis is grounded to the trailer and that the speaker connections are good.

How do I know if it is a 60 HZ?

An oscilloscope. But I would take his word for it. Mine does the same thing and only on the radio and not the cd player. It's not that bad so I live with it. I haven't gone around and checked the grounds but I'm sure that's what it is. I would start with the big giant generator ground to the frame/chassis of your trailer. These grounds should be 2.5 milliohms or less.

I have a 05 ragen.
Doesn't matter when your warranty expires when the company that built it is expired.......

I too have a hum.
I got that same advice and ran new heavy gauge wire to the radio strait up from the frame. I also ran a heavy gauge positive wire to the battery too and It still hums.
I can figure out when it does it though it seems to be random.

That was allot of work for no results.

The radio if left on will drain the batteries quick too.....

The adapter plug bypasses the ground and will do NO harm if the radio is plugged in that way. No oscilliscope, no gound wires no work and less than a buck to TRY it.

Talk to a stereo shop. You can buy a filter that connects to the positive power feed to the stereo that helps remove the hum.

Wild a$$ guess: unplug the converter and see if it stops. Possible bad ground to the converter?

The filter is called a ground loop isolator. It wires to the power to the radio. Should be about $20 range.
