I'm trying to find the rear cross member of my River Canyon 5th wheel. It has an enclosed underbelly. Any ideas on how to go about this?

Dave Troxel, former parts mgr for Trav. Sup now has his own business for TS parts replacement. Call or email him with your question and he probably can ship you what you need.

Maybe a stud finder or such. Other than cutting the material I don't know.

A stud finder would do it.

I don't think tbax46 wants one - (like a replacement part) -
If I understand the Q correctly - it's covered.
He would like to know how to locate it under the covering.
Think the stud finder is a good suggestion.
Next maybe tap for the solid sound with a hammer.
Depending what you want to do when you locate it (drill?)
Consider dropping (un-fasten) a rear corner of the covering for a
genuine look-see.

Try a magnet, same as the stud finder just a little bit stronger...should be obvious. Remember, if you are looking to drill into it, some of them are angle iron back to back with a 1/4 to 1/2 space between...so you will have to favor one side or the other to hit metal.

Mark and JC are correct.
I'm trying to locate under the cover and drill some selftapping screws. My problem is the covering is sheet metal and it's pop riveted and caulked around the edges. It also sags a bit which makes it even harder to tap on like a wall.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try them all.

Look for other fasteners that are holding the sheet metal on....they are always installed in the framework.

avan, Thanks for the phone numbers. Dave has sent me to another former TS employee who now works for Entegra (Jayco coach being built in former TS factory). He is going to look up my coach and send me something on the frame construction.
