I am trying to find the correct crank to be used in an emergency when my slide out return mechanism \fails to work. The manual calls for rachet wrench with a 12 point 7/16" socket. I cant seem to find one as when I try to put it on the part to crank, there is a piece of metal there and I cant get it on. Any help greatly needed.

I can't help you directly but can share the misery. It turns out that on my rig there is no way provided to manually crank the slide. There's something provided that the manufacturer thought would work, but it doesn't. There's a modification that's supposed to be available in the future to address the issue. My point is that if somebody tells you how to crank the slide manually, ask if they've done it themselves (the best) or personally seen it done (2nd best). If not, don't rely on the information being correct until you've proven it for yourself.

Insist on a demo FIRST if you are buying from a dealer.
Otherwise, you will be assured that what you're buying can haul 80K lbs if you just casually ask.
No fun to find out the hard way after.

Look in your manuals. The information is there. If you cannot find it in the manuals call Winnebago. These slides can manually be cranked back in.
I bought the 12 point 7/16" socket at Sears Hardware.

Jambo 31 We had to request the manual crank from the dealer - the factory either neglected to include it or someone took it before we picked it up.

My RV came with a crank for a slide, but I don't have a slide. Had I known there was a need for it, I wouldn't have thrown it away. Oh well.
You can surely go to a home improvement store like Home Depot and buy what you need there for around $15.00
