An actual ad in a local free shopping news mail edition---"FOR SALE: Heavy duty, 20,000 pound tandem 8' X 18" tilt flat bed trailer with pintle hitch. All rebuilt. $6500 OBO 608-XXX XXXX. All I can think is "OUCH!"

Would that be similar to a Gooseneck?

I would certainly hope so! Some copy person should check a bit more through. There are several comments that could be used but they would be "poofed" for sure. I was tempted to call but it is long distance and I am sure several calls have been made. I am going to look up the number to see who has the trailer with the strange hitch for sale.

You are only full member on this forum.
Once you become senior, such misspelling will not make you surprised anymore

Interesting that the forum software doesn't **** out the word.

I also wonder how you get 20,000 lbs of stuff on a trailer only 18 inches long.

These hitches are not new, they have been around for years and years.

My mistake on the " instead of ', it was correct in the ad, and golly, I am so sorry that I am not a Senior Member. I don't even spell badly enough to write penile rather that pintle. I probably have pulled more equipment using the Pintle hook hitch than most having used the first I think in 1951 and they were used long before that. Most military trailers used the hitch as did much construction equipment. But I have never heard of nor seen a penile hitch at least not for pulling trailers.
