That's what it took yesterday at the dentist. I went in for two temp crowns. He could only do one because the 2nd tooth never numbed up enough to do the work. My appointment was at 3:10. At 2:30 a.m. this morning the numbness finally wore off and I was able to stop drooling. Dinner last night was a bowl of ice cream, half of which never made it into my mouth. Brushed my teeth before bed and wasn't looking in the mirror-when I did I discovered I had done a fantastic job on my lips and cheeks but not too good on my teeth! Feeling much better now other than sore spots from all the Novacaine. Can't wait to go back for the next one!

Sounds like you were injected with pseudocaine, except for the drooling part.

I am so glad to be done with all that. Now if I have a problem with my teeth I just hand them to the dentist and go read a magazine!!

Just finished my ER root canal on Tuesday and did part one of the crown today. Have discovered that I have certain enzymes in my system that breakdown the freezing very quickly resulting in many shots throughout the procedures. No fun. I have only managed to have wine for dinner tonight!

I metabolize novacaine quickly so usually a filling takes multiple shots of novacaine to get it done. Now my dentist gets them quickly and last cavity that looked like it was starting - he drilled and filled without even numbing me up it was so small. No, I don't get a lot of cavities - have had 3 my whole life - but genetically when my teeth were forming they never fused completely leaving hairline fissures that can turn into cavities. Most of my teeth are filled - not because of cavities but to prevent them - all with multiple shots of novacaine per tooth - with me no longer even numb by the time I left the dentist office after. I can feel your pain.

I have 2 crowns from cracked teeth (no more chewing on popcorn kernels or ice -that's what cracked them). SOOOO not fun! I can empathize with you!

I have always had problems with pain during dentistry, the only exceptions were once with a Canadian specialist who did a surgical root procedure & a Mexican dentist who did something similar. All other times I have to have multiple extra shots, including something called a 'Deep Block' where I think they slide a needle between the tooth & the gum.
I shudder to think of it! I sympathize with you.

Sounds like me, always takes several to numb me up. In fact my dentist always has me come in a half hour before my appointment so he can start trying to get me numb.

Had two deep blocks and three direct. From what the dentist said sometimes your body just fights it and there ain't spit you can do about it. Next time will be better, I hope! This is the first time I've ever had an issue like this.
