Has anyone mounted an antenna on their pop-up? I am looking at the Hide-a-way antenna from Winegard but don't know if it is any good. Yes, I know most of us go camping to get away from the TV but we like to catch the news and weather. Any comments?
(BTW, the tv already has a digital tuner so there is no need addressing the digital vs analog issue.)

Have thought about it but haven't done it yet. Just using the rabbit ears for now and they work ok just to catch the news or weather like you want to.

David, Here are some instructions from NC Camper. Note in the end he moved the bottom of the antenna from the box to the ground.
Hope this helps.

I'm waiting until spring before I invest in anything more than my current rabit ears. Most TV stations will not put their digital signal on the current high power analog signal systems until February. I would think there will be a lot of postings on what works and what dosen't after the switch.
I bought 2 digital to analog converters (with coupons) for my mother who lives a good distance between 2 large cities. They don't work at all for her right now. Hopefully that changes in February.

After the switch to digital you current antenna will still work. They will still pull in the signal. The format will be different and that is where the converter or a tv that will understand the new digital signal will be needed. So you cna go ahead and put up that antenna now and it will still work next year.

I have the Hide-a-way that you are looking and it works. I did not mount to the camper, but to a board and attach it to the camper with bungee cords. Mark

i mounted the hide-away to the camper and love it. i like the fact it mounts to the side of the camper and not the roof.
i also wired cable outlets and ran the cable thru a 25db 12v amplifier. I think the amp is a 'must', especially with digital signal. I wired the amp to the 12v power and installed a switch. works nice.

I have a Wingard Hidaway for my Aliner and added a signal amplifier bought on Ebay. This increased the antenna performance considerably.
Also Radio Shack sells such amplifier units - Signal Amplifier.

added a hideaway to my aliner as well.. with an inline 12v amp. Works good when used with the amplifier. it is mounted to a few sections of antenna mast. I used a bolt-on hitch mount mounted vertically on the rear bumper to hold the mast..
