I have a Newmar Dutchstar with a Cat 3126E. At times it runs badly at full throttle acceleration or climbing. One source advised me to clean a fuel screen at the entrance to the injector pump. I removed the fuel line and fitting but no screen. The Cat manual says clean it "If Installed". How can tell if it is installed and where is it? Engine # is CKM58477
Any other thought on why it doesn't run smoothly with power would be appreciated.

I called the Caterpillar RV hotline (877 777-3126) with your engine serial number. No screen to be serviced. And on any coach with a primary filter installed BEFORE the screen (as 99% of motorhome applications are set up), need for service would be highly unusual.

We did determine there was no screen. A check of service records revealed that the fuel filter had not been changed dispite a standing order to do so. So I changed the filter and the engine ran flawlessly all the way from Washington to Arizona at altitudes up to 7200 msl.
