Hey guys,

I just found a 2004 Starcraft Centennial for sale on craigslist that is local to me. They are asking $9400 for it,and they are the original owners. I am wondering though,is this a High wall pop-up,because it sure looks like one,but the seller(wife) wasn't sure what I was asking her when I inquired if it was a highwall or a regular pop-up. I see it doesn't have a slide out,and that may be an issue for my wife, but we set up an appointment to go see it on Sunday. What should I look out for on this particular model? Is the price too high? I think it is,but I have been known to be wrong before(don't tell my wife, okay!). Are these solid campers? How is the quality compared to say a Fleetwood,or a Jayco? Any input on this subject is welcome.

The Centennial is a high wall pup. We previously had 2 Starcraft pop-ups and when we started looking this time, we went with the Starcraft and same dealer we'd bought from before. I can't comment on any other brand, but we are sold on the Starcraft - we never had a problem with any of them.

When you do go to view, be sure to check the tires. Also find out when the wheel bearings were last re-packed, brakes checked. Ask for all manuals/owner guides, and have owner set the PUP up for you, try out the appliances, etc. You too will want to know about the PUP's last usage, battery, etc.

Looked at the Centennial yesterday. It seems very well kept, and very nice as well. I would like it more if it had a slide-out,but it wasn't to cramped for a pop-up w/o slide. The seller was very nice, and forthright about its upkeep, problems, and such, and even provided a ladder to allow me to see the roof(he had it opened before I got there). There was a small spot on the roof where he had a tree branch fall on it some time ago,and he patched the small punture with some epoxy, and I did not see any evidence of leaks at all in the camper. There waqs some discoloration on the front side canvas around where the fan/light unit clips to the support bar,but it seemed like maybe it was from dust/dirt being forced through the fan with a lot of use. It didn't appear to be milderw,or mold, and it was only around that one area,so it was probably dust, and such that may have stained it a bit. The underside of the camper seemed very well sealed up,and solid with no soft spost that I could find,or see. The tires appeared to be in fine shape, but I don't know where to find a date on them(they are the factory tires). The bearings have been repacked the second year they owned it,and it looked like they had something called a bearing buddy on them. I have no idea what that is,but the seller thinks it is a simple way to replack the bearings with grease, but again I am unsure of that. All in all it seemed to be in great shape, but now we need to figure out if we like it enough to make an offer, and I have no idea what to offer, because NADA guides is a bit tough to understand as far as standard equipment, and such, and they only give you a retail value not a private party value,so I have no idea what it is worth on the open market.

Our other problem is my wife seems hung up on the travel trailer instead of the pup even though she says otherwise I really know she doesn't want any pup. Any input on this is appreciated.

Well we went to look at a 2005 Starcraft Centennial 3606 yesterday evening. We found it on Craigslist, and it was about 1.5 hours away from us. We really liked it,and it seemes very well kept. The layout was nicer than the 3602 we looked at last week, and the asking price is lower as well. The seller seemed very honest, and showed us how it folded down, and such. The only known issues were a small dent on the left side rear at the corner seam from the seller backing it into something, and the cold water had no pressure when he turned on any of the fixtures. He said the cold water was fine during their Labor day trip, and he would figure out why it wasn't working before we potentially bought it. The canvas seemed to be in great shape, and so was the underside of the flooring. The roof was in great shape, and the owner has a nice 4 position bike rack mounted on the roof that can even hold a kayak,or canoe as well.

The one thing I was bit worried about was the seller told us that he would get up on the roof, and pressure was it after each trip, and even demonstarted this by climbing on the roof, and walking around a bit. The roof didn't seem to be deflecting too much under his weight, but is this smart to be walking on teh roof? I did on my HTT,but that is different than a Pup I would think. Am I worrying about nothing? Is $8500 too high for a 2005 Centennial 3606? Any input would be appreciated.

You can look on NADA for what typical retail values would be. Just looking at a bare 3606 since I didnt know what options were on the PU, the low retail was $6800. The high retail was $8190 so unless this PU has a ton of options, I would guess the asking price is high.

As aerohead34 says NADA prices it at low $6800 to avg $8190. If you were to go to a RV dealer they would give the same (as the NADA book they use the options are "standard").

As far as walking on the roof, it is fiberglass. I went on the Starcraft website and they did not say anything about if you can stand/walk on the roof. You can try calling them and and ask what is the weight limit for walking and putting bikes/boats up on it.
