We have one dog, a pug, and put her on a tie-out when we are sitting outside. Its a lightweight cable in 2) 20' lengths connected to either a spike driven in the ground or a convenient tree.

This works pretty well although it has to be untangled from lawn chairs, picnic tables, and other stuff every now and then.

We've considered getting a second and larger dog, about 90 pounds. The thought of multiple tie-outs though has me shaking my head. Seems like I'd spend most of my time untangling them from things including each other.

I'm sure someone has been through this and has come up with an easy solution.

We have three we tie out. I use 6' chains. It gives them enough room to move. I use the things that screw into the ground and make a triangle far enough apart that they can't tangle.

We use two 10 ft tie-outs, Secure in the ground 20 ft apart. They can touch noses but can't get tangled up.

We also have 3 and occasionally tie them out. We use the long screw in eye hooks stuck into the ground, then use carabiner clips to attach the leashes. We just place the dogs far enough apart so they can touch noses, but not close enough so they can get tangles. It works well. I don't think you'll have any trouble with 2.

Ours are working on their 'Scout' Knot-Tying-Badges. Have 3 and try to keep 'em to the nose touching distance but not always able. Just a part of the fun of camping with critters. I would probably keep the little guy on closer(to you) 'string' as not to get trompled by the 90#er. HaveFun -- Enjoy.

We use one tie out and one 20' lightweight rope. We tie the rope evenly to the one tie out stake and hook up one dog to each end of it. That give them 10' each with no problems of tangling.

You might want to check into what the "field trialers" (folks who show hunting dogs in competition) call a "chain gang". They will some times have 10 or more dogs linked on a chain gang. It is just one long chain (can be as long or short as needed) streched out tight and staked to the ground at each end. Along this chain they hook lead chains to each dog about 3 foot long. The leads are hooked to the main chain about 7 to 8 feet apart. That way the dogs can not get tangled into one another and it only takes two stakes to hold out many dogs.
P.S.
The mushing dogs use a similar tie out for multiple dogs.

We are pretty new to camping, and found that our 4 dogs tied out were often getting tangled. It is difficult to tie out all 4 of them far enough away from each other so that they cannot touch. We then saw several people using the folding pet fences (they come in 24" to 48" high). So we bought one of the 24" fences. The fence works well for the 3 dogs that are around 20 lbs or less, since they can lay down with each other without getting tangled up. We also place the fence on one of our plastic awning mats so that the dogs are comfortable! The big dog is still tied out on a long rope/leash. However, the smallest dog (chihuahua) has figured out how to climb the fence!

Good Luck.

As others have said space them so that they can't get tangled.

Our tiedowns do double-duty to hold our awning in place on windy days.

Another option which we do is an electric fence. Our dogs where special collars and we have wire that we can make a square around our RV. When the dogs get close to the wire their collars beep warning them that if they continue they will get shocked (it's a very very low shock, i made sure first). It works great. Our dogs run around free and we don't have to worry about them wondering off. We put little stake flags out by the wire so the dogs can visually see where it is at each time we move.

Works great and is hassle free!
