Edit: Use a "cheater bar" on a torque wrench? To each his own, but from the first day as a Navy helicopter mechanic, to a journeyman industrial equipment mechanic, to a FAA A&P license, to a certified outdoor Power Equipment mechanic, I was always taught to NEVER do that! Now that I am a Retired Mechanic, I still wouldn't do it. There are longer wrenches available, as well as torque multipliers if necessary. However, my prejudices shouldn't stop anybody from doing their own thing.
Good luck.

That was an excellent post on proper use of the tool!
I was taught the same thing, many years ago, so what?
In the real world if done properly there is no more stress placed on the tool or fastner, just less on my shoulder...not as young as I used to be. If set at 100# the wrench does not know, or care if I place 50# of force at 2 feet away or 25# at 4 feet away.

If there is no indicator that you can see, it probably clicks when you reach the setting. Surely you can torque a 100 lbs, my 15 year old grandson can.

.........upon further thought, the only time Ive used an actual torque multiplier was if there was not enough room to use a longer wrench. Seems to me like a longer wrench/cheater bar is the ORIGINAL torque multiplier?
Next youll tell me to go buy a $500 3/4" torque wrench to tighten my ball? Think I'll stick with my flex handle/cheater bar at exactly 2.8 feet to achieve the 450# torque.....never have to worry about it being out of cal.
Come on guys, sometimes an old dog has to learn a new trick. The guys who taught me/you/us didnt know everything.
