yea I made a similar thing,,, I took a 4X4 and screwed it to a piece of 3/4 in plywood base.. put a shelf up on one side, a bit up, another one 1/4 of the way around and another inline with the first one.. made an open box on the top with a large hole in the bottom for cats to climb into,, carpeted the post and the inside of the top box with a power stapler.. ummm,, guess you need a picture don't you? All of our cats have loved it and at times both Tiny and Basest are in it together.. mine is near a window so they can see out.. I will work on a picture for you soon, promise.
I hate paying the price for something made in China for my pets... tell you what bring in a good size tree limb and prop it in a corner... they will find it.. and climb it and scratch it.. might sprinkle some catnip on it first time and show it to them..
