Have been trying to edit and update my signature and have gone to my preferences and I can't find it there.

Go to the "My Profile" tab next to preferences.

No. Signatures are created and edited on the preferences page.

racquet9,

Strange! Are you sure you didn't go to your profile page. The signature section is the first thing on your preferences page.

I was unable to change my sig, until I figured out that my profile from 2005 was obsolete and I had to update it. Then I could get to the preferences page.

But when you clicked on the 'My Preferences' link, weren't you re-directed to your profile page? And wasn't there a message stated you had to update your profile first?

That's not what the orginal poster posted, but would explain why he couldn't find the signature.

I did not see the small message explaining that due to system configuration changes that some of my profile data was no longer valid. As I recall it was a blue message surrounded by black text and it did not stand out. Important messages are always in red, de facto standard.

I concluded that the software was broken and that it was taking me to the profile page when I wanted the preferences page. Since this is a free site, I just figured it was going to be a few months before they got around to fixing it. After all, we all know they are plenty busy just trying to figure out how to keep it from slowing down. The spelling checker has been broken for more than a month.

The error message was poorly placed and the wrong color, in my opinion. But what do I know. I have only been writing software since 1974.

At the time in question, I was using the Woodall's portal. I couldn't access the signature change in 'My Preferences' as usual. However, I could access it through 'My Profile' tab. Thus, my suggestion.

The forum has been squirrely lately. I've had intermittent problems accessing the forums through all the portals. So, I just chalked up to a glitch, which isn't very uncommon here.

My apologies. Didn't mean to mislead. Just saw a time sensitive backdoor opportunity and passed it along.

This did the trick. Had to redo my profile before it would let me see my preference page.
Thank everyone for your help.
