Positive article about RVing. Just because everyone says things are bad, us RVers manage to still go out and enjoy ourselves! RV Sales down 14%, but RVers camping only down 4-6%...At Yellowstone Park is full despite travel costs.

I got back yesterday from a kayak/tent camping trip in the North Cascades and never saw so many RVs in my life! Yep, RV-ing is alive and well!

I am not sure where the figures come from, but I can say that for many of the campgrounds in the upper midwest were experiencing a 15-20% decline in site rentals. Part of the reduction can be blamed on an unusually cold spring.

I would think as the summer wore on, rv'ers started getting out, since its still a lot cheaper to go rv'ing rather than a motel vacation.

Seeing all the RVs on the freeways through Wyoming, I agree: RVing is Alive and Well!
Just wish I was one of those who are On The Road!

I passed no less than 10 RV's today on a section of road 40 miles long. Sadly we have to wait until Friday to get out and go ourselves.

Granted, we did not buy new, or even from a dealer, but the economy did not deter us this summer from making a decision about how our family would chose to spend quality time together.

That, and running around after a 4-year old and 1-year old in a tent was getting a little more than we wanted to deal with.

We are at Henrys Lake state park right now and plan to head over to the Bakers Hole Forest Service campground today for a week or more. We have friends workcamping there we want to visit plus I have never seen Yellowstone park.

The people here tell us that Yellowstone park still has a fair amount of traffic on weekends but during the week not so much.

State park usage usually drops dramatically after Labor Day but there are six or seven campers here today.
